Ooh. Official.

So, gang. Are our vessels named or designated?
Skiffs being W.O.V 96VLRC-1 through 10 is a lot easier than constantly building a list of names.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

I don't think we should name the skiffs, unless for some reason we end up with different loadouts on them, in which case we should call them "Skiff Mk[Number]" or something.

The vessels we actually build, we might give names. Or designations, if we want to make the GM suffer by constantly having to copy-paste the mess of letters and numbers rather than write out a name.

We could just assign our production line craft a designation until we customize one, and leave names for vessels that we build and customized production line craft.

....Hang on, Draignean, how exactly are our vessels being propelled right now?

Gravity?

Crystals manipulate gravity when powered by electricity (From the core crystals). That's how we gain lift, and how we maneuver. I can only assume that the trim crystals are used for propulsion as well. Or maybe the lift crystals?

Lift Crystal: Can invert and multiply gravity's effect on itself (Note: Cannot multiply downforce). Much more efficient than trim crystals, but the directionality cannot be changed.

Trim Crystal: Can alter the direction of gravity and multiply its effect on itself. Not as efficient as a Lift crystal, but you can control the direction.

The Lift crystal is usually used for the majority of control in the up/down directions (Lift), whereas trim crystals do literally everything else. Thrust, pitch, yaw, roll, the whole nine yards.

Hmm..... Well, we have electricity, and I'm assuming at least basic circuitry, considering we can get the electricity from the core crystal to the lift crystal and various trim crystals.

Anyone think designing an electric motor for a propeller would be viable? Might not actually be any faster than trim crystals, but it would, at minimum, let them focus more on maneuvering and give us a crystal free method of propulsion.

An electric motor absolutely requires a ferrous core. We could do it, but it would be more complicated than it would be IRL. Probably a good idea, something to keep in mind anyway...

Maybe nickel or cobalt? They're magnetic.

Cobalt would be a good one if we can mine enough of it...

Worst comes to worst we could always use iron plated with copper.

Since we have electricity we can electroplate things.

The propeller's unnecessary. However, a battery crystal will allow us to cross the Calm. Everstorm, however...We'd need some form of super-Shroud. Also, we might need some way to keep ourselves from being blown off course, though that's HOPEFULLY not an issue, because if it is then we're going to get screwed over as soon as Kasgyre does their one design necessary whatever to cross the Calm...

I am quite sure the GM will make it exactly as hard to cross the one as the other.

A better shroud, and some way to cross without exposing delicate webbing or sails to the storm is probably all we need... If we plan our designs right maybe we can cross both with one set of tech?

An aeather capacitor will allow us to run without webbing or aeather flow, which in theory would allow us across the calm and help us across the everstorm.

Don't forget that electric motors would really help with aiming heavy cannons and such. Motorized mounts are much better than manual ones...

We don't face that problem, milo. Because our cannons are a chunk of crystal wired to a web, with a copper heatsink around it. Not exactly terribly heavy, I'd imagine.

Once we make them huge they will be... Also electric (or hydraulic) will help a lot once we do armored turrets.
