My point was actually "It's never going to get heavy enough for us to need assisted turrets". Most TANK turrets aren't assisted. I assume this game won't be getting turrets, as that'd take a lot of development better spent on other magical things...I hope.

Most tank turrets are hydraulic and/or electric. I have no idea where you got the idea that they were unassisted. See this article for lots of information on WWII tank turret rotation methods. The only WWII tanks with manual rotation were japanese.

An aeather capacitor will allow us to run without webbing or aeather flow, which in theory would allow us across the calm and help us across the everstorm.

A capacitor would also be handy if we decide to pursue that taser ballista idea Madman proposed earlier in this thread (somewhere, and I'm pretty sure it was Madman)...

I wonder if sprinkling tiny capacitors in our webbing would render them more resilient against aethercannon fire?

(Also remember Madman that Bronze is heavier than steel...)

That isa really good idea! It wouldn't stop initial damage, but could possibly greatly reduce secondary overload damage. A good side effect project to keep in mind...

Does someone have a counterpoint strategy to run against my spire assault plan?
Keep in mind it's minutia, the rest is going to use Jilla's template

I am willing to edit the plan if we get a few more people agreeing with this, and very very few against it.
(I'm assuming you mean the 'escort the transport, avoid combat unless it threatens the transports mission' tactic?)

I don't think we can do that...

Oh great and mighty GM: Are we limited to our designed tactics, or can we give one off orders like this?

The taser ballista was me. And actually, many early tank turrets were manual/mechanical. Most artillery pieces (Barring such things as naval artillery, which I'm not counting, and railways guns, which are just absurd) never had anything other than a mechanical aiming system plus a hydraulic recoil-control system, which we don't need.

As for weapon designs: An autocannon/repeating aether cannon. This gives us the web-burning power of something like the original shotgun proposal, but if it's infantry-portable then we have what amounts to a Gatling gun, except with more plasma.

Anyway, I'd have the Skyskiffs push forwards on both fronts, and secure the area. The enemy can't make it to the Spire faster than us, depending on what they've done, so we should be able to ambush them from high/low altitude, especially in the Three Captains (More places to hide).

Designed tactics.

As the GM says, we cannot give our troops fancy orders without designing the relevant tactics. Right now our ships are limited to manoeuvring straight towards the enemy and firing until dead. We cannot order our ships to set an ambush, for example. Even if it makes sense to do so, them's the game mechanics, and we should endeavour to work within them.

Anyway, hopefully Kasgyr sorts themselves out soon. We're pretty much set, aren't we?

I'll lock things in soon, assuming you guys don't suddenly get cold war-feet and start making daisy-chains out of paperwork.

That would disrupt the orderliness of our paperwork.

The Department of Order is not impressed.

The Department of Redundancy Department In the Basement Downstairs would like to know if your daisy-chain plan would interfere with their filing things three times in in triplicate.

We just need to file a fourth copy for use in the daisy-chain project...

Is it just me, or is Kasgyr catching up to us in the page count rapidly? I distinctly remember our thread being almost 3 times longer than theirs....

I wonder what's going on over there?...

A long argument about the merits of intentionally suiciding ships, I suppose.
