Well... alright. I guess we don't have anything else to spend the dice on, and if four progress dice overshoot I will eat my hat.

Ikusasa
Progress: 21/20 (3)

The design of the Ikusasa matrices is finalized, and we should now be able to produce medium crystals as needed, as well as upgrade core crystals to the new matrix variant.

Windrider Production Line
[Time: 5 (5/1) Progress: 15 (3+4+4+4) Cost: 4 (1/4)]

Engineers, military command, and dockmasters work nearly in unison to make the dream of regularly producing Windrider class vessels a reality. The fiscal investments will need to be significant, the time to set up the yards and to mature the assets that will eventually fund the program is still significant, but the dream is possible. The initial outlay of time is frightening, and the resources that still need to be pushed in represent a daunting sum, but the potential outcome could change the war.

Windrider Production Line: 15/40 | 8C + 8O + 5W + 3S, + 23 From Any COWS | Rushed 0 Times | Nothing Invested

Spire Wreth's production stands at
13/y Crystal, 24/65 Banked
17/y Ore, 19/85 banked
19/y Wood, 40/95 banked
10/y Silk, 43/50 banked

It is now the revision phase. You have 1 die to spend.

Helix Pattern

An attack pattern that allows 2 vessels with broadside and forward mounted weaponry to concentrate fie upon a single enemy target. Both vessels execute a series of interlocking wide turns, forming a (somewhat distorted) helix shape if plotted on a map. Slightly different altitudes ensure that both vessels do not collide even if they happen to cross at the same time.

The  pattern of the helix exposes both broadsides and the bow in sequence, allowing distribution of fire and impacts. In addition the wide turns offer excellent opportunities to fire forward mounted weaponry. At that point, both vessels are at the furthest distance from one another and facing towards the enemy. The enemy must choose one target to face head on, the other will be hit in the vulnerable flank.

The helix can also be executed while moving away from the enemy, at which point the Stern and broadsides ae exposed. While doesn't offer opportunities for forward fire, it gives time to prepare the forward weapins for another run.

In the absence of better signalling, target selection is by predeterming one of the vessels as the lead vessel, and then shooting at whstever that vessel is shooting at.

Question:
At that point, both vessels are at the furthest distance from one another and facing towards the enemy.
Our forwards-facing weaponry (the Dragun) has the shortest range. I may be misunderstanding the positioning, but if not, wouldn't we want them to be as close as possible to the enemy when firing forwards?

Speaking of Dragun, a snapshot PLACE might be a fun way to deal with the barricades.

Or we do what they did and attack from the sides.

Sneak & PEEK: Our captains are brave patriots to a man, anxious to take the fight to the enemy no matter the odds. Unfortunately, in some cases, this is not the best approach. Thus S&P has been devised. Captains following this tactic are instructed to stay at a safe distance from the spire they are stationed at, using their PEEK to observe enemy numbers & movements. Should the enemy spot them and attempt to engage, they are to retreat at once.

Witholding my vote until tomorrow, so I have more time to think about it.

Meanwhile, I made a spending plan for the windrider PL, the red line showing what we can spend in the next 3 turns without slowing it down. we have a 50% chance of finishing it in 4 turns, and as we calculated in discord, it leaves enough resources for 2 MOVEPLACE and 4 sword squads.

Eh, whatever.

since madman voted, I'll give my own vote.

Basically, I am not convinced the enemy will be at TC for us to engage them this turn. However, we are uniquely positioned right not to know that they can't have significant ships at unfinished.
That said, I like both options anyway.

Next turn we can send a transport with a 2-Comet escort straight to the Unfinished. Two squads, two PLACEs, which is all we can afford by the calculations. If 'Scorched Roads' burning up as much aether as possible isn't good against those wraiths, well, drastic measures shall be required.
