Why are people voting for Skids? If we're going with the IS replacement, they're completely pointless.

Advanced Fuses : Current fuses are primitive and cost much time to replace. The advanced fuse uses a spring and a fragment of a broken lift crystal, both very cheap and abundant materials. When power flows through the fuse, the crystal fragment activates and pulls against the spring. The maximum flow can thus be chosen by adjusting the tension on the spring.

Three squads does not leave room in the transport for crystals, so skids it is.

Would not crystals stack as easily as skids anyway?

Skids are made from parts of a BLOCK, which we can attach to squads.

I believe that the skids are meant to be a creative use for a BLOCK.

How about this alternative.

BOX

A box to stuff small things in, that can be stacked upon the deck of a transport ship. Allows the transfer of multiple smaller objects in complete security without taking up excess space.

Because honestly, Skids are a bad solution.

Or this

Field Repair and Refit Equipment

A set of tools that can be carried by a squad to make field repairs and possibly upgrades to PLACE installations. Includes padded boxes to allow the squads to take crystals with them without dropping and breaking them.

Honestly, it's no worse than the Skid idea.

Normally, changing a mount consumes resources,  as can be seen from the Dragon. Such a drastic change would also require going back to the Main Spire. The skid idea tries to cheat their way out of paying resources, out of the requirement to go back to the main spire, and out of the requirement for storage space by using BLOCK as magical solution of wood, tools and other stuff.

Trying to sneak a crystal aboard that can fit in your hand seems vastly less intrusive than major structural changes.

I actually don't mind the idea of a refit kit.
Especially if it contained spare fuses

BOX has been given the OK by the GM. Refit kit sounds too likely to fail (and GM says we don't have needed training), and we NEED this, so just plain BOX for me.

It would give us maximal combat potential wouldn't it? And we do need it now, I suppose.. And 1 IS PLACE core wouldn't reduce the amount of gauntlet equipped squads we could field either.

Boom and Zoom 2
Efficacy: 2+1

The improvements to our existing boom and zoom tactic are... lackluster. Captains get a bit better drilling on the proper amount of 'across' to combine with 'up', and are instructed to make their first pass from their current position rather than favoring a downward initial strike.

Constant Fortification
Efficacy: 1

The problem with our unbreakable defensive line is that it's made from as much wood as four soldiers can carry and still sort of move. Now, that's quite a lot of wood, but it's not enough to simply build new fortifications and leapfrog head without doing a lot of scraping, and that's where the problems begin. The wood cracks and splinters after being repeatedly cycled through a process of nail together, scrap apart, nail back together again. In order to combat that, soldiers try experimenting with just picking up and moving old cover, which is problematic. If the cover is small enough to move and shoot with, it doesn't cover the soldier adequately, if  the chunk of cover is big enough to provide some protection, it's ridiculously heavy. Moreover, in either scenario, moving the cover ahead means extended periods of time where soldiers are in front of the PLACE cannon,  which is never a good idea.

In short, this tactic is ineffective both at conserving men and resources.

Bulk Objet boX [sic]
Efficacy: 5

Despite its paperwork being misspelled and its acronym tortured, the Box is exactly what it says on the tin. A large box. As it is a box, it requires a marine to carry it with both hands, and makes him unsuitable for combat either in the advance or in the retreat. Together, a fireteam carrying these boxes can transport a half TU of objects- so long as no one object needs more than an eighth of a TU.

BOX: 3 Wood for a Fireteam's worth. Four military issue boxes. Each box can carry an eighth of a TU, (two small items) in addition to whatever the soldier is carrying.

It is now the production, deployment, and tactics phase.

Remember to submit your flag designs into the core thread prior to combat resolution.

Spire Wreth's production stands at

17/y Ore, 11/85 banked
