No, the first did not give it a minor bonus. The first told you that your engineers had no idea what they were doing. The four would have given you a cannon with Itshana increased power, but some other deficiency. With a six you succeeded in getting an ISLAC that has the exact same combat profile as a normal LAC in all respects except increased power and the expected increase in ore cost, despite having no real idea what you were doing.

Your dissatisfaction is rather mind blowing.

So, the 4 was effectively wasted and completely subsumed by the 6?

My dissatisfaction seems justified.

I expected the 6 to do it perfectly (as the GM confirmed) and the 4 then give an additional benefitial effect, instead of nothing at all.

Of course. How do you think "roll at advantage" works?

You roll two dice and use the best one.

But rolling at advantage was never the plan.

THe first revision was to try Suckerpunch again.

The second revision was to try and understand why suckerpunch didn't work, and improve range and accuracy.

That's how extra dice on revisions work... What did you expect, a magic revision that was twice as good?

It was not an extra dice on a revision.

Read the description of the revisions. They're noticeably different written.

Plan 1 is to build a gun with extra cooling space

Plan 2 is to understand why Suckerpunch failed.

Edit : And I expect a doubled down division to be just as good as a 2 normal seperate revisions.

Sky Plan B
2 Skiffs at Kasgyr Northern Demi-Spire wait a bit, then moves to TC in order to link up with our main force (Double Ambush)
Deploy the WOSV Windrider, have it take all skiffs at Wreth with it to TC (Double Ambush)

I'd rather not risk Herbie to deploy pincushions, not when we're retreating and as such minimizing damage anyway... Send Herbie next turn, when we can afford to outfit those marines with actual gear. Also Tack? We only have 2 skiffs at Kasgyr's Demi-Spire, and 4 at Wreth.

And Ebbor? STOP. We wouldn't have gotten that 6 if we didn't double-down anyway. And for some reason I doubt even a 6 on the first roll would have gotten us what we have now without a followup of some kind.

(REMEMBER, We got a double strength cannon, with the ONLY downside, tradeoff, whatever, being the +1 ore the Itshana Select Crystal would cost!)

There was only one revision. On Discord rolling at advantage was discussed and decided upon. Just because you can't follow along does not mean you can try to screw up a good thing later.

It was explicitedly written in that so to avoid wasting the dice.

Here's the quote :

Quote
I'll propose a write up for a double down on the SUCKERPUNCH, one that wouldn't waste dice (Unless those dice are more ones :/)

So, doubling down was not decided upon. It was explicitedly decided against.

Yeah, I know you wanted to roll with advantage. The vote did not go your way. You were the only one to vote for it, in fact.

Just because the GM made an error in your favor doesn't change that.

I tried to make the wording of the write up imply that it would effectively roll at advantage if the first roll went bad, but to not waste the second die if it went well. As far as I'm concerned, the SUCKERPUNCH was a total success.

(Wait, Tack, by Suckerpunch-pattern, What loadout did you mean?)

In any case, it's clear your write-up got entirely ignored. It explicitly stated to evaluate and change the design, but then the update says that the design is left exactly the same.
