Trim Assisted Witch-Hunter Cranequin
An upgrade to our venerable Witch-Hunters inspired by our success with trim powered naval turrets.
It is simple: Attach a tiny trim crystal to the linear gear of the crossbow's cranequin. The trim crystal applies force straight back, greatly reducing the weapon's effective draw weight and allowing it to be reloaded in much less time. Might cost some extra crystal, or might be a free upgrade like our powered turrets.

@NAV, could you adjust the hold the line tactic to allow for the Marines to just hunker down and wait if need be?

Witch-Hunter Trim Cranequin
An upgrade to our venerable Witch-Hunters inspired by our success with trim powered naval turrets.
It is simple: Attach a fist sized trim crystal to the linear gear of the crossbow's cranequin. The trim crystal applies force straight back recocking the bow, or at least making it much faster and less tiring to crank. This will give our Witch-Hunter users a rate of fire to match or exceed that of Wreth's pathetic toy crossbows. Of course the 600 or so pound force produced by the trim crystal will prevent our marines from holding it at their shoulder while reloading, but this can be solved by adding a hook at the front to hook it onto cover, or by crouching and bracing the stock on the ground. The trim crystal and tiny core required to power it will add 1 crystal to the Witch-Hunter's already steep cost, but crystal is by far our most abundant resource so we can afford it.

Draig explicitly stated that we could do a focused shroud revision, but the full "all power to front shroud" would be a design.

Aether Grenades Mk2
[Efficacy: 5]
It doesn't take too much work to devise a better timer for our grenades. For standard use, the timer is now four seconds, no more, no less. However, marines also have the option of setting the timer manually, allowing a timer from a deadman's switch to a one-hour delay.

Hold the Line
[Efficacy: 6]
As far as last-ditch tactics go, our efforts have created a winner. Layered environmental fortifications, trapped in layers so that the enemy can never take and use a defensive wall. The position itself is selected especially to afford the enemy as little cover as possible, and to provide as many fallbacks as possible.

Our infantry equipped with this tactic, even if they can't win a fight, will at least inflict severe losses. Our marines will fight to the last, and we can expect to take severe losses ourselves, but hopefully we can choose when to do that for the greater good.

Shroud Basic Focus
[Efficacy: 3-1]
Tuning our shrouds to have directional behavior is possible, we've been able to ascertain that much, but our preliminary efforts have yielded only minor results. The operation is complex, and requires time and facilities that will not be available in the field, even with the upgrades we've made to the arsenal of our airship engineers. With these modifications, we can focus a shroud's energy into a quarter of its arc, causing the rest of the shroud to become paper thin and all but powerless, but resulting in a 50% increase in power for the chosen section. While this is a heavily inefficient trade, and can only be set while at a friendly spire, it's a hopeful beginning.

Lift Crystal Purification
[Efficacy: 1]
Well, we've definitely learned that there are some parts of the growth mixture you do not want to mess with. We've generated a couple of spectacularly pure lift crystals, this is true, but the lack of some of the secondary agents appears to have had strong adverse effects on the matrix, causing them to have less than a tenth as a effective as a normal lift, and while we're still reasonably certain there are tweaks to the growth cocktail we can make, our current operations have largely been for ought. The changes we seek will likely not be the low-hanging fruit we'd hoped for.

Spire Kasgyre's Production stands at
12(+12)/y Crystal, 24/125 Banked
12(+2)/y Ore, 15/95 banked
17/y Wood, 17/95 banked
10/y Silk, 10/55 banked

It is now the production, deployment, and tactics phase.

Quote from: Blackstone Siegebreaker
Purchase:
1 Topaz Grenades (1o 1c)
12 Grenades (12o 12c)
12 Bronzewood Witch-Hunters (15w)
8 Aether Pistols (2o 2c 2w)
Total: 15o, 15c, 17w

Load up the transports:

Jupiter:
-Cavalry 1: 4 witch-hunters, 16 topaz grenades
-Cavalry 2: 4 witch-hunters, 16 grenades
-Cavalry 3: 4 witch-hunters, 16 grenades
-Cavalry 4: 4 pistols, 16 grenades
-Cavalry 5: 4 pistols, 16 grenades
-Cavalry 6: 16 grenades
-16x4 spare grenades for the Blackstone defenders (carried by the reinforcing squads to not take up transport capacity)

Dionysus:
-Cavalry 7: 16 grenades
-Cavalry 8: 16 grenades
-Cavalry 9: 16 grenades

Viperidae, Anguis II, Boidae, Xenocalamus, Aniliidae, and 5 Natalies all travel to Blackstone. The 5 vipers using coordinated fire, with Boidae providing the fire control. 2 Natalies scouting. The other 3 Natalies using aerial ambush. Show Wreth who owns this airspace and create an opening for the transports.

Ocker picks up Redshirt Squad 1 [25%] and evacuates them back to Kasgyre, using smuggling tactics. Because 14 is the max number of squads we can have there, gotta make room. EDIT: Unless not all the reinforcements make it, in that case leave Redshirt Squad 1 to defend Blackstone.

Dionysus and Jupiter both smuggle their reinforcements and cargo to Blackstone. Give every remaining defender a grenade.

The 14 marine squads and 14 militia squads at Blackstone all Hold the Line.

Marines at Burned Mountain use Bait and Strike.

So, here's another idea to put on the stack:
Standard Issue Masks and Goggles
The stalker Mask was a good proof of concept, but was inherently flawed. By putting some real effort in, we should be able to produce a much more ergonomic mask that fits snugly over the nose and mouth. With layer's of silk and charcoal in disposable filters it should be able to keep our marine and aircrew safe from airborne toxins and aether poisoning. Further, a pair of durable goggles is issued to protect the eyes from fumes and heavy winds.

The majority of the effort goes into making this standard issue equipment distributed along with the slings and leather helmets.

NAV, yo forgot to mentio that the trasnport and Battlebarge we send with marines should be using Nightime Supply Runs. That way, they cn effectively use the distraction of the aerial battle in order to get the people insid the Spire.

I am also kind of wary about using aerial ambush instead of just coordinate fire all the way in.
