If we can either increase our silk storage by four, or if we can increase our total resource output by four, we will stay on track for the Production Line. The silk storage will almost certainly be a lot easier, but increasing output will be way more useful in the long run. Either way, we need to do it by the end of next turn, so we have some room for error.

All our new vipers use standard weapon crystals. Therefore we should improve said crystals to increase range.

Burned Mountain Survival Tactics.
Human beings have adapted and survived in countless environments prior to the loss of the surface. We did this by studying the environment and finding ways to make it work for us. This revision is to study the environment of burning mountain in order to create methods of survival in the harsh environment.

Some survival tips include:
Bringing along canaries or other small animals as an early warning of poison gas.
Feel the temperature of the walls to know if there is lava behind them.
Learn how to read the environment, predict the patterns of change of temperature and only advance when it's at its coolest and safest.

Stay calm, move slowly, and avoiding working up a sweat to try to keep your temperatures low and conserve water.

There are also some suggestions to re-purpose our existing gear for survival purposes. These include:
Use the tower shields as sleds to carry all the heavy equipment in the heat.
Use Witch-hunter strings to make snares to trap small animals to use as canaries.
use the silk vests to make filters for breathing/water.
Using aether pistol blasts to purify water or to set off gas pockets from a safe distance.

Lance Cannon Cooling
Our last revision to the lance crystals made them cool slightly faster. But that wasn't the main effect. The main effect that we need to capitalize on is making them more resistant to aggressive cooling methods.

Lets point a hand operated bellows at the cannon, with ducting to ensure all the air passes the crystal and none is wasted. Let's spray a steady mist of water into that air stream, and add more humidity until we find the maximum amount the crystal can take. The mist in the air should cool the crystal without cracking it.

It will take a second crew member per cannon to operate the bellows, or on skiffs the gunners can pump the bellows between shots.

Ship Camouflage Paint
The sky is big. Really big. You won't just believe how hugely enormously big it is*
Our ships are already difficult to spot in the enormous sky with no clear horizon. If we paint them to blend in with the sky they will be nigh-invisible except at close ranges. The paint should be the colour of the mist when seen from above. It should be the slightly different colour of an overcast sky when seen from below. This will help when scouting, ambushing, blockade running, retreating, any aerial situation where stealth is a factor.

The paint should be applied to all our ships. Skiffs, vipers, and transports both military and civilian.

Lift improvement:

For the duration of this war, we have leaned on the trim webs for our maneuvering, powering through inefficiencies in our power system with raw power from our core crystals. But now that it has come time to better our skiff fleet as we we prepare for our new facility, we need better for the sake of our pilots. We have learned much about crystal construction from our medium core and Lance crystal projects, and will use the matrix smoothing and flaw removal techniques from the Lance crystal project along with the improved geometry and internal crystal knowledge from the medium core crystal project to create a more efficient, stronger lift crystal.

Skiff Hull Update:

The skiff. The oldest ship in our military fleet. It could use an update. Using shipbuilding knowledge from the redesign to utilize trim webs and from the Viper hull, we will improve the silk replacement procedure, remove the mast if this would prove helpful, and decomplexify the trim web architecture of the hull. The two cannon mounts are replaced with a more central, up to date gun mount. The ergonomics of the crew are to be reviewed and improved.

Burned Mountain Gear:

We are to improve the breathability of the stalker mask and then connect to a back-mounted waterskin via drinking tube.

Can someone please repost the burning man suit?

Quote from: Silk Storage
As we prepare for our building project it becomes necessary to stockpile resources. However it has come to our attention that current silk storage facilities are insufficient. We must expand our silk storage facilities and reorganize existing storage to be more efficient.

Quote from: Spire Gun Tactics
Spire guns are an important feature of any battle taking place around a friendly Spire. Current military tactics do not incorporate these weapons. I propose a new set of tactics for stationary guns. These tactics draw heavily from the coordinated fire tactic of our ships. These tactics are also aimed at allowing us to issue simple orders to the spire guns such as; Prioritize closest enemy vessel to the spire, prioritize enemy transports, prioritize the largest enemy ships, prioritize damaged enemy ships, hold fire and similar orders

Quote from: Improved Blockade running
This is a second try at a blockade running tactic using the lessons learnt from the earlier attempts at blockade running and Nighttime Supply Runs. By taking some of the ideas that the civilians responded poorly to and implementing them in a military setting.

You might be wondering about the spire gun tactic there. Currently it seems pretty useless but I have an idea and I have learned some things from Draignean. We can use military transports to deliver dock guns if the military transports can get through the blockades. The only stipulation to these is that we would have to pay for the dock guns ourselves instead of having their replacement being an invisible behind the scenes process. However we have a number of weapons in storage we could use this and it takes 1TU per small cannon. If we get decent skypaint or blockade running I think we should ship over some guns.

The goal behind trying to sneak dock guns to the spire is to eliminate as many enemy transports. If we mounted them on a ship that ship would be intercepted and Wreth transports would try to stay away/be screened by enemy ships. The spire guns have done damage to the enemy fleet but even so it's not enough to get it to the point where our two Vipers can have a clear victory. If they're moving up transports this turn (lets face it they have no reason whatsoever not to right now) it is unlikely that they will be alone. The corvette class ships we've been damaging at Blackstone have been leaving and returning repaired and they probably have been building more ships. So we need something that isn't shot down easily, something that can't be bogged down in combat before it reaches the transports, something that the enemy transports will likely idiot ball into. If they've got orders to fly up and unload that's exactly what they'll try and do dock guns or no dock guns, unless they've got a tactic that says otherwise but the fact that they waited to wipe out the spire guns suggests they don't. The Spire is a great platform from which to defend the spire. It can't be shot down. They won't be expecting it and it took them what four turns to disable the existing guns?

However there is a risk of not making it through the blockade in the first place especially if we roll poorly on the revisions. So this is a plan very dependent on a number of dice rolls. It is very easy for it to be screwed over by a bad roll or two and there is a risk of losing the transport and all it's cargo.

Fixed your crystal resource cap. For reference, your resource cap, without extra modifications, will be 5 times your production rate.

I'd vote for the skiff hull if it included a Bronzewood hull plan.

My issue with bronzewood is that it's 1.25 times heavier, and we aren't building the skiffs to durability. We want faster scouts.

Bronzewood is 150% stronger and 125% heavier than normal wood. That's a strength to weight ratio of 1.2 compared to wood's 1. That means we can use it to build something 20% stronger but the same weight. Or something the same strength but 16.7% lighter.

If we're making an entirely new skiff hull, lets use bronzewood to make it 16.7% lighter.

We shouldn't sink more revisions than necessary into skiffs though, except for a new non-topaz production pattern. They do their scout role just fine and shouldn't be in a major combat role anymore.
