Well, the signal flasher went pretty well and we have something to divert some marine production to. Besides, with the rolls we got on the grenades I highly doubt we would've gotten it to production (Which we'd need since the 'nades go boom)

Anyway, this does mean we do have two dice for revisions, and we know what we need to spend them on: Combining our retreats with flanking, and formalising a shorthand language for our signal flashers.

I wonder if signal flasher is bright enough to blind someone. Only because our forces severely lack range weapons.

Our long ranged weapons are very good, it's the close range ones that aren't. That being said it IS an option; they can't shoot if we've blinded them!

You're right. For some reason I was thinking we still gave one crossbow per fireteam. That's good news.

It also makes me want bayonets more, since we don't give them swords anymore.

We could crosstrain the skiffs spotter as a comms officer and give them a flasher.

Makes me wonder what crew positions our ships have.
Skiff: Pilot, spotter, two gunners?
Viper: Captain, helmsman, engineer, comms officer, spotter, 10 gunners, a few extra?

If we'd used another die we would've got a prototype and had a 1 in 6 chance of finishing the project. As ammunition for crossbows and firearms is never mentioned, I imagine our grenades wouldn't get "used up". But even if they did they would've been super cheap for balance purposes.

It's also interesting how it costs 16 men to make 3 comms officers. Do we have some sort of light gun duel to the death?

Bait and Strike
By combining concepts from Fighting Retreat and Flanking, this tactic involves falling back to encourage the opponent to give chase, such that their advance will put them in a perfect position for a flank assault. This cause the enemy to be out of their defensive position and exposed, allowing a simultaneous strike from three sides to obliterate them.  Of course we occasionally do retreat without a flanking maneuver so as not to be predictable. This tactic should cause even more damage when losing territory, or even resist territory loss because the enemy are too scared of ambush to press forward.

Formalised Pulse Codes
With the realisation that conventional messages are unsuitable for the light gun to transmit in a timely fashion, and the development of code shorthands by the development team has given high command a few ideas on how to implement them both with light guns and with writing. By creating a formal code 'language' can drastically reduce the amount of training needed to understand and use it while potentially opening up avenues to speed up communication.
