We'll have enough this turn if we just finish arming the Ophidian. Besides, gauntlets do have limited effectiveness; we'd be better served by actually using the grenades along with swords and/or witch hunters.

But crossbows cost even more. It'll cost us 6 ore just to send out three squads of cutlass marines, which is already a third of our supply. A fireteam's worth of crossbows costs another 6. Throw three dice at the aether grenades and we'll only have two ore left. If we mess up the cost roll we might not be able to produce more than a single fireteam's worth of grenades.

It'd be better, methinks, to produce 4 whole squads worth of grenades and ship the lot of them over to Three Captains for our already-present marines to use.

Yes, but everyone's decision to outfit another ship rather than our marines means it's now a "this or that" situation, and I choose grenades to deal with their emplacements, over more men to get killed trying to take them.

We have plenty of marines to throw into the grinder. To the point where we'll start wasting them soon if we don't send them into battle.

We could reasonably send a transport with a few squads of pure grenadiers + enough nades to equip the rest of the squads.

No. We have tons of man power sitting around going to waste. If either if us could field our whole army, even lightly equipped, they would just overwhelm the other side. Even if we can only produce 1 squads worth of grenades we shall have the proto type.
These grenades are basically one shot hand held cannon blasts. A much more efficient version (and more applicable) version of what the enemy did. 1 or 2 squads worth is all we will need.
The cannon has more range, and maybe a little more firepower, but the fact that it takes so long to set up and move makes it vastly inferior to our grenades.

Agreed that we should do 3 dicee in it though.

I mean... If it explodes at all...

Any explosion in an enclosed space like these tunnels is going to be devastating for anything else in that enclosed space.

Oh yeah, but in that particular case we aren't going to need many then are we?

At the very least more troops will give us more avenues to which we can attack the Wrethi, no matter the armament.

I guess,  mechanically,  throwing vast numbers of naked men at a problem is more likely to succeed then not doing so, but from an ethical standpoint, sending so many men to their deaths is a little cruel.

That would definitely be one way to get around the issue of losing equipment when a whole squad is killed.

Yeah, the dead guy is stripped and his gear given to the new guy. We still suffer losses but it can be transferred to another unit.

Unless THAT needs a revision :P

Proposal: Some kind of scout.

A new marine unit with small squad size and highly trained in stealth. Would be really useful to determine their numbers/find their cannons/check out the other spires.

Also, we might want to send a skiff or two scouting around the other spires. We're heavily focusing on TC, while they could be capturing the other 3 without us knowing.
