Look Topaz would be nice but frankly we need med lift. We have a medium ship yard we should build a medium ship to turn the tide and we need the medium lift for that. It's been put off way too many times already and it's a fairly fundamental tech. Their will always be more impressive designs but we need a solid ground work to base future designs on.

Honestly, I just flipped a (virtual) coin. I just want or design out already.

Vertical mobility was one of the main reasons their ships beat ours last engagement.

Getting our ships with Topaz will help with that

Getting sensibly sized lift crystals will help more.

Medium lifts also lets us give our royal vipers TOPAZ MEDIUM LIFTS and ascend so fast.

Medium Lift Crystal
[Time: 3 (1,3) Progress: 5 (6,2) [Capped due to project time of 10]  Cost: 4 (1,4)]

The initiative to create lift crystals of a superior size and power is embarked on with enthusiastic investment- to the point that vattery growers actually have to stop and slow the engineers down as they keep sending in new design documents when the prototype crystals have already finished growing.

Fortunately, many such additional documents merely include new and radical naming conventions; 3C Array, Mediocris Elevatio Cristallum, Intermedia Crystallis Agravitium, and other similar derivations on the theme.

Medium Lift Crystal: 5/10 | 3C + 1O + 3 from C or O | Rushed 0 Times | Nothing Invested

Prototype
[Efficacy: 3 Cost: 1 Bugs: 3]
The 3C Array is a completely workable branch project from the grandmother spark project. While the lift crystal matrices present their own unique challenges, they're adapted to work in triumvirate with a bit of effort and elbow grease *ahem* and a couple rare mineral activators in the growth phase.

All in all, the end result isn't terribly inspiring, but it's very functional. She shares her strengths with the original tri-core design: her power is increased to fourfold when synched properly, and the same synchronization issues, while present, are dealt with by the same techniques already developed. Sadly, she gives no more insight into the more mystical theories regarding crystals, but, aside from her growing costs, she's serviceable.

Medium lift Crystal:   9 Crystal, 12 ore for one | A fused crystal design, very similar to that of the medium core crystal in creation and execution, but using lift crystals instead of core crystals. Shares tri-linking faults and solutions with the medium core.

Spire Kasgyre's Production stands at
12(+12)/y Crystal, 33/125 Banked
12(+2)/y Ore, 14/95 banked
17/y Wood, 17/95 banked
10/y Silk, 20/55 banked

It is now the revision phase. You have 1 die to spend.

Revision: Med Lift vat segregation

As of right now, vatteries are generally all purpose. The same vat that grows lumen lamps one day might be drained and re-seeded with a mix for weapons crystals the next. This is not much of an issue most of the time. Vat fluid is cheap, and growing goods for the civilian sector in the off time is a way for vatters to make some extra cash. This does pose a problem when you run into expensive fluid mixtures like that of the new Med lift however. Instead of contracting out to guilds, the crown will acquire an exclusive agreement with a few specific vatters for such productions. This means that they will be insured enough production to keep them in business since they receive every contract from the crown, and also that the cost is significantly reduced for us as we don't have to remix the solutions at every growing period. This will primarily see the reduction of costs for expensive mineral binders, but also a small increase in savings for general crystal solutions as well.

Quote from: Revision: Schola Communicae
The Royal Aeronautical Academy teaches many distinguished courses. Command, piloting, engineering, gunnery, navigation, etc.

For some reason Comm Officer training is taught in the Royal Marine Academy, despite being an aeronautical role. This strange arrangement worked fine when we had a small fleet, maybe even fostered cooperation between the forces. However the Marine Academy was not expanded to handle the demands of the new medium docks like the Aeronautical Academy was, so it can no longer afford to train enough comms officers for our ships. We should add comms officer training as a new official specialization in the aeronautic training course and stop having it compete with marine training and recruitment.

Otherwise we need to use literally all our marine training to train enough comms officers to equip our fleet, or go without communication completely.

Quote from: Kettlegun Water Pumps
Using our experience with the Vanguard and mini-vanguard, we should be able to fit some additional  tubing to the Kettlegun's current barrel piping, allowing a miniaturized pump to cycle the water from the heat sink along the rest of the gun and around the barrel. With luck we should maintain a cold RoF indefinitely, other than the occasional change of water canister. Maintaining current resource costs is critical.
