We don't want to push them into acting right before we attempt our landing.

The only way this makes sense is if we want to intercept the enemy fleet with an engagement at their demi-spire, to prevent them reaching the TC next turn. This just means that we would have a guaranteed loss in the air and win on the ground. At that point, the current situation is just reversed, and then they land more troops at the TC. The only real way to take TC is to capture it, and then fortify it. To do the second, we have to have air superiority. We cant try to stall, this is an all or nothing strategy.

We need to consolidate at the TC, prepare for a massive engagement next turn, and cross our fingers that they don't engage yet.

I think we should have grenades on each tower shield squad.

Do all grenadiers now have grenade slings?

All soldiers. You now get a leather cap and a sling when you become a marine, if you were already not provided these items by your parents for your seventh birthday.

ALSO, you are DANGEROUSLY close to going into this event without any submission whatsoever. I've got errands to run for a while, but if time permits I intend to run a turn today.

Oh crap, that's a thing. I quickly threw something together, but I'd appreciate if helmacon still wrote his thing, so you don't have to rely on my godawful writing skills.

Three Captains

The Dionysus and her escort arrive without incident at the Three Captains, complementing the existing forces. Otherwise, the skies are empty but for abnormally wet conditions.

The Natalie VIII arrives as well, joining her sisters near the front. From the hive, the Viperidae replaces the Ophidian as it moves into enemy territory.

Burned Mountain

Inside the Spire
The marines pull back to the spire's edges, holding together as well as they can in the burning heat. It's miserable holding patrols in the Burned Mountain, and the camp is moved at emergency speed when a lava flow is spotted changing direction, but no additional marines perish.

Western Wrethan Demi-Spire

As the Ophidian and her escort travel into Wrethan territory, they note a general lack of enemy forces. Warships standing ready, not even patrol around their demi-spires. It's still and silent.

Central Wrethan Demi-Spire

The same undefended stillness seen before is represented again here. The Ophidian encounters no resistance as she cruises around the demi-spire. The only ships seen are transports, which typically try to run.

A few chasing actions crunch the slow vessels, but the Canary is lost in a burst of fire from the spire itself- making good on its name when it dies to let the other vessels know their in range of the emplaced cannons.

Spire Kasgyre

Another Natalie is ready for service, and two more squads of marines stand ready to serve.

Event Outcome: Victory, though by the skin of your teeth, and probably only because I have a soft spot for poetry.

It is the beginning of the year 374 AR.

Spire Kasgyre's Production stands at
13(+10)/y Crystal, 26/115 Banked
17/y Ore, 24/85 banked
19/y Wood, 89/95 banked
10/y Silk, 37/50 banked

It is now the design and project maintenance phase. You have 5 dice to spend.

Imperial Topaz production will be shown during the tactics phase.

I suggest the Fang: a smaller skiff variant that focuses entirely on speed. One gun is facing forward, set into the hull. The crew is three; comms, pilot, Gunner. Uses a Medium Core, will use topaz Lances once they're done, uses trim webs (at least 6) and more lift crystals than a viper. Bronzewood hull.

@Draiganean, can we use our advantage rolls on the topaz Lance?

Anything we do this turn, we should remember that we want to equip our marines for a push on TC.

Spoiler: NAV's plan mod. K (click to show/hide)

The above plan would cost 20c, 20o, 82w, 24s. We could put dice into Lance Crystals, and a couple into AIM. We'd then have one left over to create a shieldwall tactic, to ensure Tower Shields and Mobile Covers are used together to the best of their abilities.

I fear that the enemy is massing at Unfinished to attack us at Glowcove.

I imagine they would be more concerned with TC. At best, they would need 4 turns to take Glowcove, and that assumes we do nothing to stop them. Meanwhile, the Kasgyre resistance will cause marine and ship casualties at every step. We could get to Glowcove from TC if we need to.

Meanwhile, all they have to do is break our blockade at TC and they have a secured belt spire. Securing TC is the most logical choice for them.

Spoiler: NAV's plan mod. K.N. (click to show/hide)
Only difference is more grenades. Our marines go through grenades very quickly so they should have as many as possible. 2 per marine.

Your plan only takes up 8 tc, but the battle barge gives us 9 tc. Throw an empty squad in there to fill casualties from our fighting units.

The battlebarge actually gives us 12 TC, but a squad takes up 2 and a Mobile Cover takes up 1.

Whilst I like the idea of more grenades, if we do give them more, we won't have enough crystal to work on the Lance this turn.

Our priority this turn should be the marine invasion, not lance crystals. We should have our marines as well equipped as possible and throw the dice into mist dissipator or revisions.
