So, can we put the prototype battlebarge and lance cannon into use?

No, I believe (if I didn't I meant to and need to do that) I mentioned in core that you still only get battle-ready prototypes at 50%.

I still would've preferred to finish something, but I'm not gonna argue that that is some nice rolls.

Anyway, lets talk strategy, because we have extra time to do so and we need to decide what to do regarding the Wrethi pirates and the Three Captains.

I reckon the Dionysis could sneak past TC if the three skiffs use suicidal escort tactics to help it get past. My main concern is them seeing us go and then throwing some actual warships at Burned Mountain.

Meanwhile, the Viperidea at Kasgyre can deal with the Pirates, as I sincerely doubt they'll have sent anything bigger than skiffs. Our only risk is them leading us on a merry chase around our home territories.

Something we can all agree on.

So, we will need to add cooling to the lance crystals soon.
We could try air cooling with bellows as suggested on discord.
We could try using liquids other than water, like oil or ethanol, crystal growth fluid, or blood.
Maybe we could try a steady drip to the crystal instead of submerging it.

We could make a revolver cylinder type thing with multiple crystals, but that would be prohibitively expensive unless we invest heavily in hanging gardens. The revolver mechanism would allow a 2+ round burst, and probably need a medium mount.

We could try using something similar to the tools that keep the medium core synchronized to keep the crystal intact.

I am partial to the idea of a revolving set of lance crystals, combined with a revision to reduce the cost of each individual crystal. Meta-gaming, a cost of 1 should be easy to improve with a revision. Fluff-gaming, we do a lot of complicated things with crystals and this is just a new technology, there are bound to be ways to refine the process.

Helmacon brought up the idea of capillary cooling, which would avoid the dousing issue. Revolver mounts could probably be revised from the vanguard Mechanism, come to think.

Production ideas later, but we should probably make some new vipers or equip new squads.

Also, how have we managed only 16 ore this turn when we haven't spent anything yet?

You started with 1, piracy suppressed two of your production.

Ahh. I forgot about that.

Alright, let's throw together a plan:

Quote from: Operation: Gratuitous Escalation
Production
Purchase:
1 Topaz Mediumn Crystal (18c)
1 Topaz trim pair (1c)
1 Topaz Aether Pistol (1c, 1o, 1w)
1 Topaz Grenades (1c)
6 Reams of Webbing (12s)
2 Trim Webs (2c, 2o, 6w)
10 Light Aetheric Cannons (10c, 10o)
1 Light Copper Ship Plating (3o)

Load the stored Viper hull with:
1 Comms Officer
1 Topaz Medium Crystal
1 Topaz Lift Crystal
2 Topaz Trim Pairs
2 Trim Webs
6 Reams of Webbing
10 Light Aetheric Cannons
1 Light Copper Ship Plating

Total cost: 33c, 16o, 7w, 12s

And then christen it "Causinae"

Strategy
The Ophidian, Anguis & both Natalies at TC move to the nearest Wrethi demispire and use Ambush + Coordinated Fire vs any Wrethi ships, then Strafe Infrastructure
Natalie VI moves to TC and assists the Canary in Strafing Infrastructure (who knows, we may catch a marine or two with it)
The Viperidea moves to The Hive (or wherever it was those Wrethi pirates were at) and uses Close Aggressively.
All ships at Glowcove move to Burned Mountain using Escort tactics and deploy marines.

Squads Siegfried and Siegward use Flanking tactics at Burned mountain. Squad Siegmayer uses Defensive Fire.

I don't think the empty obsolete hull is worth equipping that well. Its too vulnerable. Maybe give it a cheaper loadout with no topaz, trim webs, or copper armour. That way we get the ship in the field with full firepower but don't lose as much ore and topaz when its shot down. Save the topaz and ore for a royal bronzewood viper.

I also don't like how your plan leaves Three Captains almost undefended to chase after ships that we don't even know are there. If the enemy takes over the TC airspace they get its resources and fortify it and pretty much win the war. I don't want to put that airspace in the hands of just a skiff and a Natalie.

I also don't think we can give our ships conditional/sequential tactics with our basic command structure and training.

To get to TC they'd have to pass by the fleet that would be wrecking the Wrethi demi spire.

It also pretty much behind it into line with the other Viper we have fielded. They're all basically doing nothing at the moment, so I'd like to apply their destructive potential.
