Three Captains

The sky around the Three Captains is clear of hostiles, but the captains are careful to enforce a steady blockade regardless.

The Unfinished

The latter reports the Natalie IV brings back from the Unfinished is concerning. It's barely legible, the scrawl jagged and primitive as though written by an invalid or a young child, and the contents... Well, the contents are madness. It is unclear whether the letter was written by the captain of the Natalie IV or one of the crew, but it's pages of alternating apocalyptic doomsaying, barely legibly military report, and childish pleading to be returned home. From the military report sections, one can glean that the Natalie IV did attack the docks, and that at least one enemy transport fled the scene. Damage may have been done to the docks, but the report veers strange and wild when discussing the specifics.

Specifically, the report states that after attacking a transport, or perhaps the docks, the Natalie IV was attacked by an Archangel. Scientists have long dismissed Archangels as visible aetheric phenomena, as bereft of portent or supernatural candor as lightning, but to aeronauts, Archangels are the coup-de-grace of superstition- said to heralds of the great events that shape mankind. The report identified this one as distinctly unfriendly, and the writer gibbered at length about the impossibility of winning a war when the Builders themselves were against them.

Further reports are notably absent, and no contact can be reestablished with the Natalie.

Presumed Lost: Natalie IV

Burned Mountain

The One-Eyed Will, however, delivers a mercifully mundane report. The burned mountain still oozes heat and flame, sending a billowing cloud of smoke and char with the wind, but there's neither enemy contact nor disturbance of any kind.

Glowcove

The Dionysus and the Natalie V stop at the Glowcove before finishing the rest of their journey. All is well.

Spire Kasgyre

An additional Natalie class skiff is constructed, and two more units of marines stand ready.

It is now the beginning of the year 372 AR.

Spire Kasgyre's Production stands at
13(+10)/y Crystal, 41/115 Banked
17/y Ore, 26/85 banked
19/y Wood, 95/95 banked
10/y Silk, 31/50 banked

It is now the design and project maintenance phase. You have five dice to spend.

Nitpick time: Ironwood should be called Bronzewood now. AIM should have 6 progress.

3 dice to ironwood. Bank 2 dice for revisions.
I support. Gives us 62.5% chance of completion.

I think we should spend one die increasing bronzewood strength. Turn it from a minor upgrade to a major upgrade.

Slight modification to the turn.

The Natalie IV is now presumed lost.

Awesome, this is back.

With whatever crazy nonsense is going on at the Unfinished, I'm uncomfortable sending transports into it without a Viper escort.

Quote from: Battle Barge
An enlarged, deep bellied ship, appearing at first glace to be a scaled up Transport Barge. Unlike the Transport Barge, it is defined to be a military transport. Thus it has space for a medium core, trim webs, spare reams of aethersilk webbing and a single medium mount at the prow of the ship,
designed to rotate across at least the front 270' arc. This is not meant to make it a competent combat vessel, but instead to discourage opportunistic raiders. It also has mounting points for additional armour plates and is designed to hold 12 TC of marines/materiel.

Our Transports are now clearly outdated and in need of replacement. I personally feel they were outdated since the start of the war, but we had more important things to think about. This will also allow us to deploy more marines to a fight. As even the smallest spire could have comfortably held our largest fighting force whilst we were sitting on over ten squads of marines at home, I feel a switch to Quantity over Quality will be beneficial to us.

I'm not sure the medium mount at the front is a good idea. The only medium cannon we currently have is Vanguard which is way too expensive to mount on a transport. A number of small mounts would be better and provide protection to the back of the ship. Otherwise I like the Battlebarge.

With whatever crazy nonsense is going on at the Unfinished, I'm uncomfortable sending transports into it without a Viper escort.
Should be fine. We aren't sending the transport into it, just past it. Our ships have flown past Unfinished many times before. Natalie IV went insane because it stayed there for a couple turns. I am more worried about it getting caught by wreth warships since it only has a single escort Natalie.

Edit: Battle Barge a good idea but I would rather finish Bronzewood.

I will vote for the battle barge if we make the front mount a normal cannon, otherwise Bronzewood.

Change it to 4 mounts and you have my vote. Maybe one on the front, back, and each side. 2 is really pathetic and negligible. If we don't want to pay we can leave some of the mounts empty but the option should be there.
