We did try to tip our crossbow bolts in explosive crystal.

I've been thinking. They now seem to have developed a traditional canon to bypass our shrouds. I think we ought to do the same, especially considering the double shroud they use.

Instead of developing a regular cannon though, i had a different idea.

Our grenades have already shown the effectiveness of exploding overcharged weapons crystals. What if we designed a ballista (we have an extremely powerful crossbow, which might give relative experience) but instead of shooting regular ballista bolts, it shoots shards of crystal, designed to detonate on impact. It should bypass shrouds, and it would be devastatingly effective.

but yea, +1 to progressing the thaddeus in some amount this round for now.

Edit: This is intended to be a design.

Well, since making an explosive crossbow bolt didn't work, we could try making a crossbow that launches grenades. Though fair warning that'd be a design, and we still have vertical envelopment to work on first.

We really need to concentrate on our ships not our marines, they are getting blown the fuck out of the sky with ease at this point.

Coordinated fire
Using our superior communication abilities our ships will coordinate and focus on their fire on appropriate targets. Using this tactic our ships will be combining their fire and firing simultaneously at larger targets and dividing their fire for numerous smaller targets. Against smaller agile targets our ships use a distributed firing pattern that is hard to dodge.

Trim Powered Turret rotation
Our guns would be more accurate and effective if they could rotate faster and easier. We can achieve this by adding a few trim crystals to the sides.

What if we put a lift crystal on a grenade and call it a torpedo?

Zarburn Rockets
Zarburn rockets are powerful rockets propelled by trim crystals. The detonation fuse is a timer that can be set before launch. The warhead is a cluster munition, an explosive charge separates out and propels out a swarm of aether grenade like bomblets that in turn explode filling the sky with hot shrapnel. The Rockets, in theory, have no maximum range being self-propelled. The launcher is fairly simple, rotatable and designed for a small mount. Reloading it is not the easiest thing in the world but it is pretty simple. The range is estimated, the fuse is set taking the range into consideration and the rocket is lifted into the launcher. This is a weapon that ignores enemy shrouds and is extremely difficult to dodge. It should be capable of wiping out multiple enemy skiffs in one go while inflicting heavy damage on larger craft.
I suggest this some time ago but with an increase of crystal production...

Idk... Your design says difficult to dodge, but in a three dimensional space a slow moving projectile like a dumb rocket would be difficult to target and easy to dodge. The dispersion war head helps, but all in all it sends like it would be difficult to make with no notable advantage over some other type of shroud by pass weapon.

I may have missed the ruling, but I don't recall Draig saying that our stuff needs modifying to not violently disassemble when using royal topaz.
