After a bit more thought, I think my proposed airship designs would be bad for a number of reasons. The first being wind resistance, which would make it slower than an equivalent ship. The second is the ability to present a small target to your enemy, while still having last guns. A traditional ship does this by orintating towards, and broadside.
However, I think we could do some sort of floating sky station using a circular design.

Also, silk sails. Instead of catching currents for power on measly floating tendrils of webbing, it is down into a sail, capable of catching a much greater volume of aetheric energy to power the ship, and remaining completely within the shroud.

Someone add me plus one for the infantry armor.

I bet the armour will be just as ornate as the crossbow.

Alright, looks like the plan is to design some new armor and pump a bit more research into crystals and crossbow. I'll get started shortly, unless the plan changes rapidly.

Bronze Breastplate and Helm
[Time: 5+1 Progress: 4 Cost: 3]

Bronze body armor is far from a new idea, but its weight and susceptibility to aetheric weapons have left it somewhat neglected in recent years. However, considering the recent news of turmoil and warmongering from agents in Wreth, a revival of the form seems an appropriate way to protect soldiers.

Bronze Breastplate and Helm: 4/8 | 3 Ore | Rushed 0 Times | Nothing Invested

Prototype
[Efficacy: 6 Cost: 3 Bugs: 4+1]

It would seem that the engineers have learned, at least a little, from their... overenthusiasm with the Witch-Hunter. The bronze infantry armor they create is a little on the heavy side, but all of that weight is put into protection rather than ornamentation. The new design is thick over the vitals, well sculpted around the arms to allow freedom of motion, and flared at the sides to rest on the hips and keep the weight off the soldier's shoulders. Tests against the Witch-Hunter prototype have highlighted the armor piercing ability of the crossbow's significant draw weight, while tests against pistols have shown that the armor has an excellent chance of absorbing shots from beyond point-blank rang.

An interesting addition the engineers have made is the addition of two rip-buckles. One at the shoulder, and one flush with the side, pulled both of these will break the connections holding the armor together on that side, allowing a soldier to quickly remove the armor. This ability was demonstrated to great effect during aetheric fire testing, when the Marine wearing the armor was subjected to mutiple gauntlet blasts that brought his armor to a glowing heat- but was able to quickly doff the armor and avoid being cooked inside. A fate which was all too common when such armor was originally brought into use.

Projected cost: 1 ore for the officer, 3 ore for squad leaders, 10 ore for every man.

Project Maintenance

Witch-Hunter
Progress: 1
Current: 4/7

No less than three fights have broken out among the engineering team about the final revisions of the Witch Hunter. Two of which were fist fights, the third involved the glorious original model being taken off the wall and used (sans bolts). Calmer heads (with clubs) broke the fight up, but not before Eagle Maw of the prototype feasted upon engineer butt-cheek.

Needless to say, progress has been slow.

Medium Core Crystals
Progress: 1
Current: 6/15

Following the tragic loss of two-fifths of its lead engineer's left buttock, research on growing larger Core Crystals has ground down to a snail's pace. Growing enmity between divisions has slowed down inter-group communication, and short orders and supply mix-ups have plagued attempts to refine the chemical bath used to grow crystals.

Little significant progress has been made. But reforms to the engineering team structure, and marines posted to enforce the newest rule of Kasgyrian R&D team: "No Horseplay with Weapon Prototypes".

It is now the Revision Phase. You have 1 die to spend.

So anyone want to use one of the original revision examples and revise up an order to try to snipe/pick off enemy officers in combat with our new crossbows?

I was actually thinking of revising the Skyskiff production pattern to use the kettlegun.

This is probably a good idea.

I recommend that next turn we prioritize finishing the armor and crossbow, as we don't even have something to use the medium Crystal in yet. The first two will be directly applicable to the first engagements.

Right, I need to update the tech spoilers (very soon) but costless revisions that are unambiguous improvements actually replace the existing tech. Your Basic Light Cannon is interchangeable (without revision) with the Light Kettlegun.

So, you don't actually need the revision here.

In that case, I would like to re propose the hit and run (ambush) tactics I posted on earlier. It would work great with our superior alpha strike.

We should consider going smaller and making fighter aircraft built around a single cannon. Should probably wait until we have a truely rapid fire cannon.

Then we could use a jellyfish skystation as an aircraft carrier.

We should also consider using traditional wood and cloth airplane wings and control systems as a cheaper alternative to lift and trim crystals. Would still require a Crystal for propulsion.

Also, rockets. We definitely have gunpowder, so rockets should be possible. Not steel rockets, but bronze rockets should work fairly well.

Oh yeah, Bank Revision Die for next turn.

Alright, unless anything comes up imminently, we'll move forward with Hit and Run Tactics.
