Louis perks up at the new arrival.

"Oh, yes. It'd be really nice to get out...*cough*...out of this sunlight soon."

[Adragis]

"Ah, apologies. We could have arranged for you to arrive in the early morning, had you asked." The smile doesn't go away.

[IamanElfCollaborator]

"Uh? Huh, yeah, we are. When are we getting in?"

[SOLDIER First]

"Actually, no. I've been here for a little while already."

[Adragis]

"Uh? Huh, yeah, we are. When are we getting in?"

"Now, of course. A moment, please."
She fiddles with something behind the gate, and is suddenly - with neither noise or light to signify her transportation - on their side of the gate.
"Before I let you in, though, we will need to run a few checks."
There is, in a single fleeting instant, a pervading feeling of being not only watched but seen right through. It is decidedly unpleasant.
"Excellent. You are all yourselves.
Now, then, I ask anyone of a squeamish disposition to look away. Opening the gate is terribly irritating, as it involves cutting off my hand."
The faked-yet-genuine smile doesn't falter for a second.

Dave blinks before silently readying his camera.

Louis turns away from the scene.

Mei looks a little unnerved.
"Wait, WHAT?!"

Without turning around, Louis addresses the auburn-haired girl with a morose tone of voice.

"I'm pretty new to this whole super...*cough*...supernatural thing, but she'll probably reattach it afterwards. It wouldn't...*cough*...it wouldn't make sense to make a gate you can only open twice, right? Right?"

Louis seems rather fearfully uncertain of his logic.

[SOLDIER First]

"Wow, really?! Is this the first time you've opened it?"

[Adragis]

Something approaching a grin crosses the woman's face. "Hollows is correct, to a degree. I will come to no lasting harm, and it's a very secure method of locking. Still, I advise anyone who doesn't want to see it to turn away now."
She places the palm of her hand on a rather menacing-looking sigil in the center of the gate, and mutters something to herself, although the people closest to her can hear it quite easily.
"What a great impression. 'Welcome to our school's community, let me cut off my hand.' I look like some kind of nut."
A brilliant crimson light shines throughout the sigil. The woman looks very bored.

Dale starts taking pictures. These are going straight to his personal collection.

[SOLDIER First]

"...No, really, is this your first time?"

[Chevaleresse]

Vijaya doesn't move, simply staring at the woman and the gate.

[Adragis]

"No."
A pause, while the glowing plate does its thing. Then, she seems to remember something.
"Oh, yeah, and it makes this horrible-"

The horrible, sickening sound of metal chewing through flesh cuts through the quiet as a set of ornate, barbed hooks erupt from the cold metal of the gate, neatly severing the woman's hand and catching it on all four barbs in a single swift movement. The woman makes no noise of pain, instead hurriedly stuffing the stump of her arm into her trouser pocket.
The blades retract, and a spray of bluish liquid erupts from the severed appendage as it is torn apart and dragged beneath the surface of the sigil - which looks almost like liquid metal as it absorbs the scraps of flesh.
It's all over in just a few seconds.

The crimson light turns blue, and a great grinding noise emanates from the gate. The woman sighs, as if exasperated.
"...there we go. Now we wait for it to do something vaguely impressive."
