As soon as the disgusting noises begin, Louis puts his hands on his ears to further distance himself from what is happening behind his back as he mutters to himself.

"_{^{It's completely okay... Everything's fine...}}"

[SOLDIER First]

Armis is amazed, and darts forward to stare at the gate from inches away.

"That's so cool."

"Is that enchanted? Must be, enchanters love putting blood rituals into things for no good reason... Or a demon, but you can't really fault them for their asthetic choice..."
Dale silently judges his pictures of the ritual as fucking awesome. He'll need to get them made into posters.

[Adragis]

The woman stretches out a hand. The hand she lost, actually, back on her wrist with seemingly no damage or scarring. "Stay back, Armis. I can't remember which way it goes, and I don't want something to happen to you before school actually starts."

[SOLDIER First]

"But... It can't cut my hands off, I don't have any."

[Adragis]

"It opens in this weird, convoluted way. I think where you're standing you'll get hit by a ring. Just back off a bit, Armis."

The jacketed individual has been watching the scene unfold, still standing a short distance away from the rest of the students.

[SOLDIER First]

Armis looks as sad as a suit of armor with eyes can, but complies.

[IamanElfCollaborator]

Mei looks slightly unnerved as she tries to keep away from the crazy blood magic stuff.

[Adragis]

The grinding noise continues as the bars of the gate begin to flex, bending outwards. The ornamentation remains oddly intact, however, even as the bars start to fuse together, forming one continuous ring of metal. The sigiled plate, meanwhile, remains inexplicably suspended in the center of the ring, glowing a soft aqua.

"Yeah, right, stand back." The woman steps away smartly, and not a second later there is a great clang as the central plate bursts into another, smaller ring. This ring begins to spin within the other, the edge passing through where Armis (and the woman, for that matter) were standing a few moments ago. The spinning speeds up, faster and faster, as blue lightning begins to flicker between the two rings.

[SOLDIER First]

"How did you do this? How does it work? Can I do something like this?"

[Adragis]

"I don't know how Headmistress did it exactly, but I know it works by making sure the hand is mine, and then there's a lot of magic involved in making the gate do all of this. And yes, you can probably do something like it. Not at the moment, though, unless you've got a lot of magical experience we weren't informed of."
She sighs, and gives Armis something of a smile.
"I'll try and ask for a proper explanation when we get in. At least you're eager to learn."

The gate, meanwhile, is doing all sorts of sparking and glowing. Some sort of rift appears to be opening up at its center.

[SOLDIER First]

"If your hand is the only one that can open the gate, what happens if you die, or you don't have any hands and can't get them back? Are we all stuck inside? And what if somebody cuts off your hand without your permission and tries to open it that way?"

[Adragis]

"First, if I die, the spell breaks. However, it is very, very, very unlikely that that will happen for the next several millenia. Secondly, I can always get my hands back. Third, I can simply will my hand away. We've thought out every possibility. Don't worry about it."

[SOLDIER First]

"Oh."

Armis is silent, as if considering yet another question to ask.

"...What if somebody needs to leave for an emergency and you're busy?"
