Tina brought up the image on her computer, attempting to decode the image. A writing mass, heavily distorted and hard to read, along with a blurry, two-dimensional shape that looks distinctly humanoid. A little circle loops in the bottom corner as the computer tries to chug away at the data. [Computers 40]
That isn't much to go on. Sensor readings followed the creature and detected another mass spike, closely monitoring it. With additional data, Tina's program is able to extrapolate details of inky black tentacles, spreading out in all directions, disappearing and reappearing as if threading behind a mirror from the blurry center mass. Sertan spun the ship, bringing the plasma to bare and forced Stella to use the rear maneuvering thrusters. The mass shift shot the rock ahead. Stella banked hard, but the rock scraped home. Sertan fired the plasma cannons as the hull depolarized from impact, and primary plasma containment exploded. Rushers swept aboard onto the ship, looking to tear and claw at it. Sertan quickly leapt aside as the plasma control console exploded, showering the cockpit with fried electronics and broken glass.
Every screen flashed red, and several of the control room lights were out. A slow electronic beep came in time with red flashing 'Warning' on the screen. [Commando 96]
The drones circled in behind, cutting long swaths, clearing a cloud of rushers near the front as the Zarastro gained distance despite spinning and bucking wildly. [Drones rolled 110]
Rushers along the outer hull, maybe 40 of them. The sensors detect mass increases along the outer hull as the castle field moves to envelope the ship. Defense 1 and Defense 2 are safely powered down.
