I like to see this kind of game...always makes me a bit disinterested when simulation games simply simulate all the same things that games have been simulating for the last 5 to 10 years. Always good to see a game that strives to push more detailed simulations which is now possible given the kind of computing power the average Joe wields these days.

As another side note this is the kind of game I have personally wanted to make for years (super detailed life cycles and technology through the ages etc) though as one person, with not enough experience and a life that currently does not give me the freedom to simply develop a game that has been nothing more than a dream. It has always annoyed me that most games pick a single age and make no effort to break out of that one into another (such as Crusader Kings and EU being mashed together, for example)

Perhaps, perhaps not.  We will derail the thread if we have this argument here.

My gripe here is not that though, rather it is that they pretend that the are developing for the 'PC' when they develop for windows.  Figures for market share vary but generally in the region of 80-90% for one OS.  Imagine 10-20% of your community dieing overnight, well yeah it's a significant proportion.  Why not just say 'game for windows'?
Your gripe seems to be that they didn't say outright that they're developing for windows, which they do actually say as Leyic points out. If this is just you being salty because your preferred platform isn't represented, well I am sorry about that but the correct business move is to develop for the majority and on PC that is Windows. The other 4% of the market will have to wait and see if they decide to port it over.

Currently sitting at 78k out of 100 with 2 days to go. They might just pull it off, if there is a surge of funding.

The Kickstarter campaign has got additional 20k in the last 24 hours. They only need another 20k in the remaining 48 hours. Seems that people who were on the fence finally backed. If you like this game please spread the words.

Uh, the third line of the campaign page says "When released, the game will be available on Steam for PC Windows, other platforms to be determined." Maybe they added it after you posted, but that's about as clear as can be.

Anyhow, I don't see anything that says they're a Microsoft franchise. Furthermore, "Games for Windows" is a Microsoft brand (albeit discontinued) so they'd probably get into legal trouble with Microsoft if they did use it.

Hmm, thanks must have missed that (if it was not added later). That quite reasonable.  (However their homepage https://ancient-cities.com/ only has "When released, the game will be available on Steam for PC" and no mention of windows only and their Steam Greenlight https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=854046403 simply has "Platforms: PC" and no further mention until 7 screens (for me) down in the FAQ.  So 'buried' seemed appropriate...)

Off topic:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Anyway, they would have ahd my money if they were developing a game that my PC would run.  (Maybe I am I wrong to say that but at least it is about the game...)

This has motivated me to make a small pledge. First time to ever back a game in kickstarter!

PTW (interested to see how this turns out for everyone, even though I'm not any time soon going to be getting anything via Steam), but might as well also say in passing that in the Betamax vs VHS battle, I was with the vastly superior but ultimately forgotten participant.

Just got an email saying the game has been funded, so looks like this should actually happen. Hopefully it fulfills at least a good portion of its promise.

I'm so relieved the funding goal has been reached. We need more games like this and this one offers a unique setting (stone age) that hasn't been explored before.

Well apparently the project is alive and going on well. I'm not following enough to comment on the health of the project but the amount of news is promising.
