Xenology check. Could Maxwell know of a species capable of projecting thoughts at interplanetary distances this way?

Xenology check. Could Maxwell know of a species capable of projecting thoughts at interplanetary distances this way?

Haptis II, a sordid affair regarding an unlikely intervention by the Guardians of the Covenant, who arranged a psychic blockade of the barren cave-infiltrated planetoid.

Beneath its surface lay a dormant abomination of xeno origin, a single organism with many minds that grew on stalks, not unlike mushrooms. These short-lived intelligences experienced great floods of emotion upon realizing the nature of their existence, and soon the world ignited its own warm storm, fracturing its surface and letting loose billions of spores, many of which found their way into stations, vessels, and even the local hiveworld, evading extermination through impeccably-controlled growth. It was later revealed that these beings communicated through the warp, and once cut off from their homeworld's messages by a grand choir of astropaths, the stragglers lost all sense of coordination, revealing themselves in outbursts across the hiveworld, and eventually being completely exterminated.

Do some research as to other systems that use a transmitter of comparable power to the large one.  What sort of stations and uses are such transmitters mounted to or used on in the Imperium?

Such an omnidirectional transmitter could have many uses. Since it isn't beaming its power, it may function as a lighthouse to assist in navigation across the system. It may also be broadcasting a signal like a radio, perhaps for announcements on a system-wide scale, or maybe to send orders to mass number of receivers scattered around the system.

Sub tuned the augers to scan Indecent Proposal's surroundings, providing much more accurate readings. [18 vs 24+10] He found occasional bursts of primitive radar originating from asteroids inside the outer system belt. It seems Indecent is being tracked, though there seem to be nothing moving nearby

Objects Detected:
Small Metallic Asteroid (No emissions) - 3 Vu
Metallic Object (Incoming radar) - 7 Vu
Small Asteroid (Incoming radar) - 12 Vu
Large Asteroid (Incoming radar, detected nuclear power source) - 14 Vu
Large Metallic Asteroid (detected nuclear power source) - 15 Vu

"+Something is aware of us. It should be a priority to discover the mind behind this, primitive though they might be. I suggest we examine the metallic object nearby. It may be a ship of some kind.+"

"Pedestrian ships don't read that way. Given what we have seen so far from the system, we can assume their ships will be anything but typical. Regardless, a focused auger should shine light on what we are dealing with."

++It should at least have a power source, we should be readin' their propulsion or whatever would pass as a drive.++ Tork replied. He wasn't a technical expert but he knew some things about that kind of thing.

The crew performs a detailed scan on the object, [23 vs 30+20] and the results are in. The projector flashes the image of a long cylindrical object, with a spherical protrusion on one end and a starburst of spines on the other. At the core of the starburst hides a source of nuclear energy, though the small levels suggest that if it were an engine, it would be in standby for generating electrical power.

Thus far, the object does not display any indication of hyper-advanced technology.

Xenology! Does this odd ship match any records regarding Haptis II? If not, has Maxwell seen this sort of ship before?
