Vigil's analysis of the alien eggs, bloodstream, and DNA samples from the creature show some interesting results.

It seems the large creatures lay eggs in a part of the food stock that is fed to the queen of a hive. Larva are laid in an egg by the queen, growing in size, and fouling the egg, which Vigil theorizes must be taken to the food supply, where the larva can establish itself.

Once in place, the creatures seem to serve an intermediary digestive function, similar to the bacteria that humans use to create cheese. Chitin and other inedible parts of prey are broken down within the symbiote's digestive system, producing an edible waste compound.

The biochemical products catch the interests of Greentech Organic Waste Disposal, who want to study the enzymes' uses in converting waste to biomatter to feed discount protein synthesizers. They offer Akras 20kc for exclusive access to the data, of which Vigil will receive 2kc, for a total of 2.5kc. [Biology 68]

Of course, no spiderbeetles were harmed in the taking of scans and samples. They were quite docile after feeding, especially with the team now able to spray themselves down with friendly pheromones.

Frazz Goldman looked into their nesting habits. The material seemed to be made out of semi-digested wood, semi-digested rock, and bone fibers. Examining it on a chemical level, the items seem to have become fused. He spent some time analyzing the chemical compounds in spiderbeetle spit. Glass and plastics wouldn't melt, but just about everything else would partially melt, then curiously, stick together, forming strong adhesive bonds that reminded him of a weld.

Akras was thrilled. Synthesis began immediately on a new Akras-branded caustic adhesive. Frazz is awarded a 15kc bonus. [Biology 101]

It's Christmas in June at Akras Interstellar with the discovery of a new, snowy paradise. The Christmas Planet has been charted and explored by brave astronauts. Akras expects all employees to be able to enjoy the Christmas Discovery Center by the holiday season, with a range of attractions to be announced at a later date. Sources speculate that Akras will endeavor to include sleighing, cross-country skiing, and a range of hearty shops, restaurants, and 24 hour light displays, while offering vacation properties and luxury development for all of the Earth's hardest working men and women.

Among the most exciting discovering, the friendly and playful Christmas Moth is among them. Expected to debut on the pet market in time for holiday shopping, these labrador-sized moths will make the perfect pet for anyone fascinated by deep space exploration.

In Earth news, mass graves have been uncovered in multiple locations throughout the Sonoran and Chihuahuan deserts as the conflict between the United States and the Latin Union reaches a bloody stalemate. Both nations are reportedly discussing a draft, with senators arguing that in a time of war, the unemployed cannot simply expect to live on handouts while evading their personal responsibility to the interests of their nations of origin.

In the Solar System, privateer attacks on American and Latin Union corporation ships is at an all time high, with both fleets striking and raiding at remote facilities in the asteroid belt. Both the United States and the Latin Union have been found to be in violation of staked claims by the Solar Bank, who condemns the acts of Fuego International and Halliburton for destabilizing the solar system, putting the allocation of space resources into jeopardy and risking an escalation of the conflict to a new World War. Scientists there have advanced the doomsday clock to two and a half minutes to midnight.



The screen left that up, for several seconds, before the anchorwoman returned. Holding a datapad somberly, she wished you goodnight, before reminding everyone that Christmas drinks are on special this week at the Blue Sun, a bar in the Rigel system easily accessed from base by commuter rail.

Christmas Display Center: Akras seeks a biologist and command specialist to create a zoo facility for Christmas Village, including a habitat for Yetis, Meese, and any other life deemed to be commercially valuable to a zoo. These facilities will need to provide open viewing in a family friendly environment. Specialists will be expected to capture and wrangle specimens for the facility, which will continue genetic experimentation to train Meese to pulls sleighs. Pay: 1kc each.

Christmas Land Sales: Akras seeks a marketing specialist to sell real estate on Christmas. You will be expected to cover your own expenses, and will be paid commission. 10kc upfront expenses, reward based on results.

Artifact Analysis: A dutch auction will be performed for discovery rights on the Hunter's Eye, a newly recovered Castle Alien artifact. It's effects are unknown, with research continuing into the strange properties of the Rune Cube.

Biodefense Program: The Dark Horse, a species of nearly invisible quadruped recently discovered on Christmas, may prove invaluable to covert operatives in the ongoing American War. Akras will contract out an engineer and biologist to examine the sample recovered and develop improved stealth systems for resale. Pay: 1kc.
