Making a Half-Breed
« on: June 19, 2017, 07:41:05 pm »

Well I finally did a !!SCIENCE!! experiment and created half-breed twins. This will involve love, friendship and fanfiction
levels of biology.

The test subjects

Urba Immortalitygenius Satyr adventurer Male Found fame as a warrior but waned something else...

Fighto II Glazeshields. Teddy Bear Male Legendary warrior who fought of a black bear when he was a baby.

Step 1 BONDING
I had the Urba talk to Fighto II for a bit and built up their relationship in adventure mode. They soon got
up to friendly terms with each other.

Step 2 DATE NIGHT.
I released a hydra into the hallways. The two men bonded over dead hydra meat.

Step 3 DATE NIGHT 2.0
A cave dragon broke into the fortress. Fighto II kicked its ase the two dined on ☼cave dragon roasts☼

Step 4 HONEYMOON
The two have now become lovers so I made a godlike bedroom for the two and waited a few months.
After three months the two married.

Step 5 SEX CHANGE
This is where the fan-fiction comes up. Using dfhacks Transform-unit i turned Urab into a lady teddy
got the two pregnant then switched back.

And Done!

The kids were satyrs because making them teddies crashed the game.

Why's the daughter already an adult?
I think you need to continue the bloodline.

Why do my soldiers keep punching and biting megabeasts heads off?

Oh and the two grew up so quickly because they are still considered teddy bears
by the game which grow up in one year.

So they're basically fast growing satyrs. Fun. I was going to say they don't really count as half-breeds if they completely follow one parent, but if they're demonstrating traits from both then they're definitely half-breeds.

Interesting. Satyrs would normally be adult at birth, going by wiki, though fully grown in 12 years.

Adult at birth means getting a random set of skills. Vermin-based animal people/giant animals will also be fully grown right then and there, as the base vermin lacks the body size tags.

This sort of mixing might be very interesting when one mixes, say, saltwater crocodile man with someone who causes the "adult at birth" behaviour. What's the DT-reported size of them?

Well, I'd check if their children grow up the same way as them.

Erm No.

Body size is just the size of the creature. Adulthood is controlled by the CHILD tag. The creature won't reach adulthood until they reach their CHILD:# age. Here's the kicker though, I didn't see a CHILD tag in the saytrs. Normally this would mean they do not reproduce but here we are. You can try adding a CHILD tag into the RAWs of your save but I cannot guarantee that will work...

Yeah, yeah. That's what I meant by "adult at birth, fully grown in 12 years". There's couple other creatures like crocs that get to adult quicker than they're fully grown, though satyrs are kind of extreme.

Lack of child tag will just make the creatures be born as adults, not make them sterile. See GCS breeding, for instance.

this is the first thing that i have read on these fourms that has actually bothered me.
congratulations, you have made me mildly uncomfortable when even the stories of throwing children into a dank pit while constantly being attacked by wooden spears and only having mushrooms and wine made of said mushrooms to sustain them until their 12th birthday when they are drafted into the militia where they serve until they get sent to hell to act as demon fodder hasnt bothered me at all.

interspecies marriage? im a furry thats completely normal to me.
gay marriage? i dont support it but im willing to be tolerant.
gender transformation? THAT bothers me, the idea that a "she" might have once been a "he" really makes me uncomfortable.

For a DF response, yo dwarf, how do you feel about the idea of all and any Amazon Spider Fortress Girl having once been a "he"? :P

modtools/transform goes way past just changing the gender.

Regarding the OP, I wonder how will the inheritance of other things work - and, huh. Native populations tend to have given possible colour/etc. ranges for their appearances, but this can mean things like all dwarves in world being bronze-skinned due genetic bottlenecking. Wonder if you could get GMO dwarves with green/gray skin via arranged marriages to goblins?
