Demons and other creatures have always existed, scratching at the back of humanity's consciousness.
We just didn't want to admit they were real.
And now it has cost us everything.

Spoiler: The Story (click to show/hide)

Several millenia in the future, humanity had conquered the Galaxy. Their rule was unquestioned, and the various other races never attempted the folly that would be resistance.
Our buildings scraped the sky, our ships' cannons as powerful as the death of a large star.
But it was our arrogance that undid us, our pride our demise.

For thousands of years we had denied the existence of ethereal beings, saying they were myths or "fairy tales", fit only for scaring small children.
Although our collective disbelief weakened them, they regardless grew strong on the emotions we fed them.

Pride, greed, lust, gluttony, wrath, sloth. These emotions and others fed the demons, made them strong. When we discovered the existence of this alternate reality, where the word real was meaningless and powerful creatures stalked the lands, in our arrogance we began a massive construction project designed to seal that world off.

The demons would have been content to leave us be seeing as our emotions are their life source. Regardless of the reason, their retaliation was swift and brutal.

Massive ships, parodies of our own yet corrupted and twisted almost beyond belief, poured out of this alternate reality. In a mere seven days, our galaxy spanning empire was torn apart and the remaining humans were thrust back into the medieval era. Seven days for seven sins. Eventually the demon raids ceased as the barrier between worlds solidified and thickened, leaving the few humans left to rebuild on planets scattered across the galaxy, almost all technology forgotten.

Every now and then some demons do break through using weak human minds, forming covens of enthralled human worshipers planet wide or bathing planets in blood. Each world was forced to hunt those possessed, or die.

You are on one of those now feudal planets. Through some accident, or maybe intentionally, you have become possessed. By demon, "angel", elemental being, "deity", dissatisfied deceased, or some combination, it does not matter. One possession opens the way for others. The demon hunters of Faiyana have successfully protected the planet for nearly six hundred years, and certainly won't stop now.

No matter your previous station in life, you now have a target on your back.

And hundreds of well trained archers will stop at nothing to hit that target.

Some kind of etheric being possessed you, and you now must run from Faiyanan Demon Hunters, the various kingdoms' armies, and disgruntled peasants, all the while receiving bad advice from ethereal beings and trying not to lose your mind.

What you are possessed by: (Think Pride (technically a demon but is vastly more powerful as he is one of the deadly sins, considered a deity), Demon of War, Angel of Peace, Fire elemental, disgruntled soldier who died dishonorably, etc. There can only be one of each kind of demon, (There cannot be two people possessed by the Demon of War, same with angels), but there can be two people possessed by the same deadly sin, or the same kind of disgruntled dead. Demons and angels must represent an idea or an emotion, elementals must represent an element, simple or more complex, and the disgruntled dead are just that: dead people in your head, who have come back because of some kind of unfinished business. You can only pick one thing to be possessed by originally, and if you roll badly you may get a second or even a third voice clamoring in your head.)
Generally, demons and angels are more powerful than elementals, who are more powerful than the dead. The more powerful the creature,
 the quicker it gains control over you and the more disastrous the consequences of failing a move will be.

Spoiler: Stats, combat, and other actions (click to show/hide)

Each person not possessed by a demon or other entity has 5 health. This includes Demon Hunters. For each entity possessing someone,
 they have an added health point. This can be even further modified by the type of creature inhabiting someone. (An Earth elemental would, for example, add 1 health and provide +1 to defense rolls while -1 to attack rolls and rolls requiring speedy movement per 10 levels of possession. A strength demon would provide +1 health for every 10 points of possession, and a +1 to attack. Certain possessors may decrease health but add bonuses to attack and defense rolls, like an air elemental.)

The second stat is possession. For non possessed people this stat is at 0/100. For the newly possessed, this starts at 10, or 10 split among however many creatures are possessing. Possession increases when you complete shady deals with demons or heed their carefully worded advice. Possession also increases when you roll too high or too low on a move in which you are channeling your possession's power.
 The base increase on a non combat action, such as flight or creating a bridge of ice, a 1 adds 6 points, a 2 adds 3 points, a 3 adds 1 point, a 9 adds 1 point, and a 10 adds 2 points. 1-4 would each be considered a failure, but 4 would fail less badly than 1. Regardless of the roll, at higher possession with more powerful creatures, failure will always be more spectacular. The same is true with success. (Trying to channel War to start a war between two nations and rolling a 10 while at 99% possession may accidentally start World War Medieval as well as increase your possession to the point where War now controls you completely.)
Non combat actions can be used to attempt to decrease possession works like so: 1=+6,2=+3,3=+1,8=-1,9=-3,10=-6
However, attempting this will consume a large amount of time and may allow the Demon Hunters to catch up to you. he isnt telling you certain things as he wants you to find out on your own. shut up, we dont want them to know about us. indeed.

Non combat actions are d10, but can be used in combat in creative ways. (Think freezing a river to immobilize whoever is in said river for a turn)
Every 10 levels of possession will add +1 to the roll.
Combat actions are of those possessed are d20, those who aren't d15. Both the attacker and defender rolls. The difference, if the attacking roll is larger, is the amount of damage dealt to the defender. If the defender rolls higher no damage is dealt. For every 10 levels of possession, the possessed receives an additional +1 to combat that is specific to that creature's concept. (If it is an ice elemental,
 you would receive bonuses to fighting with ice.)
If you roll a possession in combat increases as so: 1=6, 2=5, 3=4, 4=3, 5=2, 6=1, 17=1, 18=2, 19=3, 20=4

Much of it is unrevealed currently. Black borders separate kingdoms and the Demon Hunters (Who are a separate entity). Grey/gray borders separate fiefs. The Ocean is an ocean. The central, larger fiefs are the capitals of each kingdom (Named after the kingdom they are in). Descriptions of the kingdoms will be given in character. Enemies that you know about will appear on the map, (marked as *), as well as the location of each of you. (Marked as 1, 2, 3, and 4)
Important buildings will also show up.

Spoiler: Quests and other occult things (click to show/hide)

While you are inhabited by one or more creatures, they will lend you their power, but you must provide them fun. Aside from the demon hunters chasing you, they will also provide quests that (may) help you survive. Look carefully at the wording of said quests. The creatures in your head will comment on your actions, and at higher levels of possession can twist your thoughts to be more pleasing to the demon riding shotgun in your head. Ghostly quests will be relatively simple usually, often simply completing a final request the ghost never could.
 Elementals will often ask you to spread more of their natural element, (Fire elementals would want you to start many fires or create volcanos, ice elementals would want you spreading the cold.), or have you retrieve items specific to their element. Demons or angels will give somewhat difficult quests relating to the concept they represent. Deities will give the most difficult quests. Think starting wars or wiping out humanity or starting a pleasure cult that encompasses the globe.

Any mental quirks: Despite rather enjoying a good book or thirteen, he (was) mildly schizophrenic.
A short history: Jacque was a hermit, collecting books of the old world, when he found a Talking book claiming to hold secrets of the old world... Seems he was mildly Screwed over.
What you are possessed by: Montherus, Devil of Forbidden Knowledge.

Smoke Mirrors:
Name: Raven Silvers (Sorry, Glass, everyone being Jack would be weird)
Physical description: Tall, pale, and black haired, constantly wearing dark clothes, and a lean type of muscular, Raven Silvers looks like your average 18 year old goth teen, except he's not goth, he's fairly optimistic, and he's 30, not 18. He has a blood red tattoo above and bellow his eye, and some occult symbols tattooed over his skin. However, they are normally covered by black pants and a black dress shirt. He's also British.
Any mental quirks: An OCD level obsession with knowing all he can about the occult, whether it is demonic, angelic, or even mythological.
A short history: Basically he assisted the demon hunters in hunting demons until he himself got possessed. More information can be found here.
What you are possessed by: Lucifer, demon of knowledge and thought.

OceanSoul:
Name: Jay Kennel (I am a jack, but I'm not, too!)
Physical description:Brown, medium-long ruddy hair, mildly torn wool undershirt, fur-lined boots, gloves, and vest, healthy-colored skin.
Any mental quirks: Loves animals, prefers their company to humans. This one orangey cat keeps following him around, and he thinks it's possessed by a demon, too (it's not). Thinks that order and careful, logical thought's too slow for staying ahead of the Demon Hunters.
A short history: Animal tamer/trader that just wanted to live a peaceful, natural life. Some possessed guy snuck in his stable to kill a pig for food before his dog killed him. The shock at seeing the events unfold was the opening Velur@s used to sneak in him. He had to leave pretty much every animal he had behind when he went on the run, save a rabbit (kept under his hat) named Belle.
What you are possessed by: Velur@s, Demon of Ferality. He's unsure if it's -urAs or -urOs, since the voice is growly in a bit of an unclear way.

A short history: Yarrick was a street kid from an early age and survived through picking pockets and climbing through windows. Yarrick was starting to get too big for a child thief and faced the choice of trying to leave that life or join a gang. He opted to try his luck at adventuring and went exploring a nearby tomb from his town alone. In the tomb he found bones dust and rusted weapons. As he was about to give up he saw something gleaming in the dark a masterfully crafted dagger was wedged in one of the corpses with no signs of rust or damage. Not noticing these warning signs Yarrick grabbed the cursed dagger and got a passenger.

Physical description: A somewhat short guy that looks like he should be reading a book or something.
Any mental quirks: Fascinated by extraplanar entities (their societies, biology, way of life, etc.). Way too curious for his own good.
A short history: Bartholomew, a relatively minor librarian that works in the Grand Library, turned to occultism after finding a mysterious book that was tucked away in a secret compartment. He actually intentionally invited the Life Elemental that he is currently possessed by into his body.
What you are possessed by: A Life Elemental. Not the kind that hates all civilization though.

Glass your is fine except one thing I am going to note:
You can indeed be possessed by Summer and Winter, but one is an angel and one is a demon. Both are considered gods and are part of the main group of the most powerful entities. This will make the beginning a lot easier for you, but as your possession number grows, they will both fight more for control over you. As far as the other things in your head, those are all coming from you, not outside of you.

A short history: "They thought me a loon, but it is they who were the fools." Raven was an occultist, a line of work that has gotten him called such things as, a goth, a satanist, and a loony. None of these are accurate, though the first one is the closest. He was always prepared for the demons, he knew they would arrive, there were too many stories for such a thing not to be. He read through every book about demons, angels, magic, and everything in between. This, with a photographic memory, gave him an encyclopedic knowledge of the occult. With his information, he was a great ally for anyone who wished to track down remaining demons, and he was prepared to battle them as well. He was even prepared, for possession.

What you are possessed by: I'll answer that question with a question, would you care for an apple? That's right, Raven is possessed by the serpent of original sin. The demon of knowledge and thought. While all out mind control is most likely out of the question (Johiah, it's your call) he can implement thoughts into other people's heads, making them more likely to do what he wants. Combine this with mind reading and the ability to transfer thoughts to others (also thought based illusions, once more, your call) and you have a pretty good support.

I thought of this character before I saw the new guy and have been working on him all day, so let's count them as different demons with different skill sets.

These all work great.
SM, your demon is technically two demons that were forced to fuse together via human belief back when the Bible was written. You will receive bonuses to decoding things and learning things etc, as well as the ability to manipulate the perceptions of others. And yourself. Lucifer will have a secret roll each turn with which he can mess with your perceptions, depending on how he rolls. (If he wants you to kill someone that you don't want to that person may appear as someone else, etc.)
Crazyabe will receive bonuses specifically to learning forbidden knowledge. At a price. This doesn't have any real straight combat bonuses until he starts making powerful artifacts with said forbidden knowledge.

This is enough people to start with, I will finish explaining the quests and upload the map and then I can start the first DM tomorrow.
