"I have no Clue, I think the guy may be more then a little screwy in the head. I mean, he Sent us out without any memorys, just with whatever was in our pockets when we got shoved in the deep freeze. I think he's runnin' on the assumption this place is workin' fine other then th' sink hole thing."
The man says cautiously, "You still had items with you when you got out? They hadn't been taken?"
"Look, dude, you have to help us get down from here. Do you know what's messing with space-time around here? Some way to stop it?"

(5) "I don't know any way to stop it, but pockets of this distortion appeared after Malthus's - he was a director of this place, and probably the guy you call the Orator - project fell down a hole. I worked with the device, monitoring it. I was never told what it did, but many of the people researching it went insane, claiming that the psychological arrow of time was being fiddled with in their heads. A few days later, we all felt like their was a...presence near the device. Then the floor fell out and the system mindbanked us all, except for the Orator and somehow me."

Try to convince the stranger in the anomaly not to shoot by the logic that anyone who was stark raving mad would already have attempted to kill him and everyone else present.
