Traps are the perfect compliment to hidden passages. (6) You feel that you should now have an easier time finding hidden architecture of all kinds. ((Your +1 covers checks to see if a given area is likely to hold hidden doors or traps.))

((@Skia: Two topics and a key phrase for the orb please.))

Research Death elementals, ambush techniques

You spend your downtime researching death and ambushing. (3,6) You struggle with learning about death elementals, but ambushes are second nature...

((Apparate? There goes your chance to make the others say "Skia is the greatest" every time they want to teleport...))

The professor call you back this workshop. "I managed to fix the orb, truly fascinating item... Anyway, it just needs a new key phrase" (he hands the orb to Skia) "simply focus on the orb and speak or think of the phrase you want, just like you would to teleport."
"Apparate" Skia says.
"Good, good. Now that that is done, let use go perforate some bandits! Well, you will perforate bandits, I will worry about a wizard."

Traveling to the ruins where the wizard is holed up takes 3 uneventful days...

The ruins aren't very imposing from the surface, but once you get below the surface you realize this must have been a temple at one time.

You are in a large columned hall, with an exit to the north and the stairs to the surface to the south. No one is in evidence...

Stealthily head forward to the exit, looking for any signs of life.

Ripple follows a short distance behind Skia, keeping his profile low to the ground, planning to strangle any guards who notice us before they can sound an alarm.

Ripple succeed in both topics
((Nice.))

((Oh, I almost forgot! You each get +3 EXP for finishing the prologue. Spend it or not when and as you choose. I'll add it to your character sheets.

Remember: 2 exp for a skill, 3 for a hitpoint, 4 for an armor point.

One more action and we will continue.))

Search for traps/nudge the person who studied traps and architecture into searching for traps, then head down the stairs.

The party slowly creeps forward, following Skia and PaPaj as they slink through the shadows. The stairs seem clear, but it is hard to tell in this light. If only you had brought a lantern... Uhmm, a lantern and fire starter that is...

Oh well. Using what little light there is the scouts slip to the bottom of the stairs, and look into the poorly lit room beyond.

The room ahead is a large octagonal area, the walls plastered with giant webs, (1, 6+1) you imediatly notice two things about the room: The 3 giant spiders in ambush positions, and the winged elemental stuck in webs to the left side of the room.

((I am assuming non-stealthy party members are at the back of the group, halfway up the stairs. Skia and PaPaj are at the bottom of the stairs. You can try to sneak around the room to reach better positions, but it may be hard to do for everyone but Skia and PaPaj.

@endlessblaze: I think you know who is in the webs :P You can probably talk without setting the spiders off, they trigger on movement.
@Everyone: A counter ambush? It would probably be a bad idea to use poor flabort as bait :P use someone tougher.))

Assist in looking for traps by using flight, but don't stray too far from the primary trap checker.

Hang back. If and When the attack begins, use Wither on the nearest spider. Until one side or the other starts fighting though, keep still.

Try to get into a good ambush position on the spiders that are in a ambush position

((@Skia: I gave you the same basic Ambush skill PaPaj has, but with slightly different flavor. Since it counts for stealth checks too, I gave it the name Deadly Shadows. If you want any changes just say so.))
