You're right, but "dodge preparations" sound even worse.
"Quick reflexes" makes it sound like it should just be a passive thing, which I know would be really unbalanced. At least as an NCA it keeps you from moving around. Maybe it could give a -1 to your combat actions (you have to pay more attention to whether you're going to be attacked or not rather than how well you'll attack). Besides, if it's an attack action, it's moot anyway, because the enemy attacks whoever did the most damage that past turn, which means it would only come up if nobody attacked.

I kinda figured. This game seems to operate on the "Uncomplicated and brutal" principle. I like it.

Throw a copper bell out of the tower
If the dragon comes to inspect jump and heavy strike to the head (or a wing in the head is inaccessible)

Turn 9


In the Fearless Society, all the cowards continued to wait for the brave veterans to take care of business. But one old man, who had not spoken a word up to this point, suddenly aroused. "Huh? Why? Oh! Good. Here! Of course!" Before grabbing a robe and a staff from the armory. The old man walked through the portal, witnessed the battle, and stood motionless once again. Everybody else looked on in confusion. None of them were convinced to follow.



Attacks

adventurers:

Saraket:
NCA: none
CA: Shoot left wing (4)
You fire another arrow at the same target, but you miss slightly. Your arrow is slightly outward of where you aimed, but you still hit the muscled part of the wind nonetheless. The dragon screams in agony, tries to take off again, but tumbled back to the ground. It gets its footing, and prepares to fight on the ground.
60 damage to left wing. Left wing is destroyed.

Werther:
NCA: Yelp in pain while remaining hidden. (4)
You mimic the dragon's cry of pain, but your body produces an entirely new sound. It sounds like a suffering animal. The dragon is intregued by the sound, and investigates your rubble, moving his head close to your location.
You may attack the head with an adjacent attack next turn.
CA: guard (3)
You crouch down under your rubble, prepared to leap out at a moments notice. Your small figure would also be quite difficult to hit should the enemy retaliate, but as of now, he doesn't see you.

Young Johnny:
NCA: Throw a bell out of the tower (1)
You unhinge one of the bells in preparation to toss it to the ground, but you underestimated how heavy the solid copper bell was. You struggle for a bit, before it clangs against the stone tower next to you. The Dragon looks at the tower, but doesn't see you. He shoots a quick jet of flame at your location to be sure.
Free Attack: Fire Breath (1-1=1)
However, the dragon didn't even hit the tower with his fire. He must not have had very long to practie aiming with it. The dragon looked disappointed at his bad aim, but then went back to looking for Werther. You are too far to retaliate.
CA: none

Dragon

NCA: Run to Sakaret (6)
the dragon shakes his wing, then runs over to Sakaret's cover. His head peeked over the building straight down at Saraket. This was rather foolish, as the dragon got an arrow straight to the face.
Free attack: Arrow shot to head (3)
The arrow strikes just to the side of the Dragon's snout, but the sharp angle and scales on the head meant the arrow skidded straight off.
The Dragon flinches as the arrow glances off of it's natural armor, then stops messing around and goes right up to Saraket.
CA: Stomp Saraket (3-1=2)
The Dragon rears its front-right leg up, and brings it down where Saraket was moments before, but through blind luck, Saraket dives in the only direction that would have saved him. The dragon carefully peels away his foot, and doesn't see Saraket. Naturally, he assumes that Saraket was dead, so he goes back to look for Werther.

Status

Currently on the ground.

Head HP: 600/600 (small scales: -30 to ranged attacks) (out of range unless 3/4 legs are destroyed)
Body HP: 1000/1000 (large scales: -50 to ranged attacks, -20 to adjacent attacks)
Tail HP: 500/500 (small scales: -30 to ranged attacks)
Front Right Leg: 350/350 (small scales: -30 to ranged attacks)
Front Left Leg: 350/350 (small scales: -30 to ranged attacks)
Back Right Leg: 350/350 (small scales: -30 to ranged attacks)
Back Left Leg: 350/350 (small scales: -30 to ranged attacks)
Left Wing: 0/150 (out of range unless 3/4 legs are destroyed)
Right Wing: 150/150 (out of range unless 3/4 legs are destroyed)

Permanently grounded
To immobalize: destroy 2/4 legs
To kill: destroy body or head.

Possible Status effects

Immobilized: If the dragon immobilizes you, you can no longer perform NCAs until you are dropped. You can still attack, but only the body part(s) that are immobilizing you. And your attacks have a -1 modifier.

Fire: If the dragon sets you on fire, you will take 10 damage per turn, and your attacks will have a -1 modifier. To remove the fire, perform a relevant NCA (like jumping in the lake, or rolling on the ground)

Saraket

Get out of range from the dragon. Maybe to a tall place, like a tower?
Instead of attacking, use my new Quick Reflexes.

Let's just not take chances...

Note to others: destroying those legs is going to be important. Remember, once the minotaur was crippled, it was a sitting duck and dead on its feet. Nevermind...
While it'll still have its fire breath until the very end, it will still be very useful.

BTW: Is it possible to make called shots at the eyes? Y'know, for blinding purposes (it'd probably take a decent modifier downward, though).

CA: Shoot for that dragon's right front leg with a magic bolt.


Surveying the area, Ewler makes a gruntlike noise of disapproval before muttering into his, quite plentiful, beard.
