Some profits from selling of glasswork got there too. The silver, unfortunately, is still going to the dwarves, this time to those that re-settled in Zasitost.

A delegation of these dwarves brings a gift wrapped in purple cloth. They unwrap the cloth and show you The Rainbow Scepter. Either by their craftsdwarfship or magickery, it looks exactly like the old one. The runemasters that brought the Scepter to you look humbled, but you can see fire in their eyes. However, they leave without an incident.

Few days later you receive a word from tutors of your palace; they would love to praise Saenn, for all his efforts as a good student, but they seem to be unable to find any mastery in him. On other hands, the court healers think highly of him; he has quite a fortitude and is as healthy as a horse.

1144 AD, Midwinter

Queen Mother Segeda is dead!

After complaining of a fever, her health became progressively worse in span of a week, and finally she passed away during a very cold morning. A controversional figure from early days of the century, there was much quarreling done by her or done on her behalf. Some people weep; some sigh in relief, those ungrateful bastards.

A) My beloved mother deserves a grandiose tomb of marble and granite, and a gilded sarcophagus made by best craftsmen!
B) The family tombs will need another expansion, won't they.

B I really do believe befriending the dwarves is for the best. Especially if Uncly High King stays the Monarch of the Dwarves for a long long time. There is just something likeable about that guy.

Didn't the elves say that Zasitost was a Wall city? Didn't the elves give us free stuff because we destroyed that? Isn't Zasitost incredibly important to the Dwarves?
We played right into that sneaky Dwarf-king's hand.

Eh. I think the Elves just have an even bigger grudge against the Dwarves than we did. They basically went "Your the only human to actually manage to tear a Dwarven Fortress a new one. So here have a reward for becoming more than hairy savages." At least that is how I like to think their thought process was. Not that I think we're hairy savages that is.

He didn't trick us into giving up highly valuable land in exchange for an artifact that he'll blow up the next time we don't do exactly what the dwarves tell us to and ask for more. That's precisely the deal he offered and people bent over to vote for it as quick as you please.

"The Army officials therefore clamor that we restore the budget from the Army and the Fireblood Court. While no war seems to be looming over the horizon, they say its better to be safe than sorry."
