I'm all for caution with a Queen who probably tortured Prince Alec, and knew our intentions--but safety above all.

So I'm picking C for the second choice. And A for the first (because why not send ANOTHER messenger anyway, but tell him secretly we'll move our siege camp, and confidence/loyalty things?)

Why aren't people picking A for the first? It's not like all our messengers betray us on death or otherwise ._.

Within two hours, with the high towers of Lametanian capital still visible on the southern horizon, your scouts report that Queen Karkhuta's army is just over the hill. They count up at least three thousand foot, with several Blackhearts at the back and ten smaller tube-looking machines in front of them. Queen Karkhuta herself is on the left flank, accompanied by five hundred cavalry at least (the only mounted unit in this troop).

Your officers tally up your men at at least two thousand five hundred. Alac's men from the border keep could potentially arrive to join you, but it won't be much. Your officers also don't have an ounce of faith that Alldivine warriorpriests could arrive to help in this battle.

B) Deploy in crescent formation, preparing hail of arrows and Blackheart volleys for incoming soldiers.

B seems like the best option.  I don't know how many blackhearts we have compared to them, but it sounds like roughly equal numbers so an artillery duel wouldn't be a bad way to do this.
