Honestly, militarized or not, I think we can expect these sort of flare ups every so often as long as we have that damned religion tax. Now that we have shown our strength, we can repel it without appearing to cave to religious interests.

Also, can't we convert to something cooler like the Eleven Graces or Enyntheism instead? Converting to Pantheonism or Singularism is just gonna result in them excommunicating us as well, making us look just plain silly.

Come to think of it, Enyntheism is kind of a more desirable Alldivine faith anyway, since it has all the good bits without the mandatory faithful militias shitting about the place potentially causing trouble.
