A also turns this from "gently advising" into a "grab for power."  The empire is young and its methods of succession are not yet tradition.  Do we want to set a precedent of succession by diktat?  C.

Perhaps a tradition of making way for young men who have reached their prime, in order to keep the empire healthy and vigorous? Leath is 23, Houlandin is 19, both older than dad when he took over (or granddad for that matter).

As for imperial authority, I don't know that Cyl has much left anyway after the dwarves stomped our army and carried away our people as slaves.

That said, this roll seems more likely to go in our favor.
I think it would give us Leath's charisma bonus on deal makings while keeping Cyl's luck and military stuff around if we ever have a chance to use them again.

We could finally have a character who wins. He built an empire from scratch, raised a family, and now he can retire. For once it doesn't end in death our ruin.
