Something along the lines of: "The same commitment to freedom of religion that allows us to embrace a Pantheonist son, also forbids us from allowing clergy of any faith into the line of succession."

I'd say this choice isn't about his freedom to practice, exactly. (Nobody yet has voted to lock him up so he can't take acolyte's vows.) The question is whether we're keeping him in the line of succession and/or watching him for signs of open rebellion. Because how well will a Pantheonist priest/religious keep up freedom of religion?

Of course, if the succession reaches that point he would be under our control, so not a real problem unless Haspen forces some of those blank 'can't-do-this-one' choices.

(I made my vote of B on the basis of roleplaying Cyl having this philosophical not-shouting-but-never-agreeing-either relationship with his son, not particularly worried about that branch of the future.)

You tell him that you will remove him from the line of succession if he dons the robe. He looks at you, thinks for a moment, and scoffs.

"Hardly a sacrifice."

You don't talk more with him, and he leaves next day, his personal belongings packed on a horse.

1136 AD, Midwinter

Your officers bring news to you; your son Iwald shapes up to be yet another martial talent, having shown skills in leadership and swordfighting already.

Few days, or rather, evenings later, you're walking around the castle, unable to sleep. One moment, you stumble into an unused tower with a pretty decent view through its tiny window.

It's when, in the corner of your eye, you spot a flicker of light. You turn around, but no one's here.

Then, there's the same flicker of light, but up the spiral stairs, leading to the top floor of this supposedly abandoned tower.

A) I better check it out, adventure calls!
B) Gotta alert the guards, it's another assassin for sure!
C) I bet it's some ghost. I need to ask the priests to purify this place!
