By the morning, however, you learn that the Damdamians did not pick up the bait; instead, they've started vicious bombardment of the keep you recently recaptured! The amount of ordnance and firepower used suggest that Caius Cuscus is dealing out a 'punishment' to the garrison.

A) A good moment to turn back and atttack!
B) Let's bait them once more, perhaps?

You decide to poke another siege force deployed by Caius Cuscus.

Your Army moves under cover of the night. The scouts and spies keep your officers updated.

The fighting begins when most of the enemy camp is asleep. Damdamian soldiers and auxiliaries are slaughtered, and only a handful of your soldiers were killed, the losses on Methiantese side even smaller than previously.

By the morning, sentries report that a lone Damdamian cavalier is approaching fast. Soon its made clear that he is carrying with himself a flag of truce.

The Damdamian, with his tan-skin and pitch black hair, looks unnatural amongst your mostly white and bright-haired men.

"Greetings, Emperor Houlandin of Methiant. Our wise leader, Caius Cuscus, is inviting you to talk about this conflict and maybe even negotiate terms of peace."

A) "Oh really? When and where, may I ask?"
B) "The only thing I'm willing to negotiate is Damdamian surrender! Begone!"

A - We're ruining this guy's reputation right now. We should be able to get a decent peace deal out of this

I wrote out a rationale for my first instinct, B, and then I remembered that our guy is also Charismatic AND packed the dwarf necklace. Caius Cuscus is unlikely to have similar advantages (even if the Damdamians employ anti-magic as they sometimes have previously). We really shouldn't pass up a chance to avoid the butcher's bill when it is given us.

This might be a good opportunity to seek out a White Peace; one that shows our willingness to cooperate in the future for the better of two countries. The Damedians were the aggressors here and we have shamed them utterly; at the very least, they should show us some respect.
