We have our armies to keep the people in line. I, personally, just want the bill of rights because I’m nice. The people deserve better.

Who says we are giving them power? It is more a couple of protections.
Plus, it will help us survive when the inevitable age of revolutions comes.

It's only inevitable if you just accept it as inevitable. Also, doesn't using our army against the peasants if they get greedy because of the bill of rights make it pointless anyway since they'll just get even more upset if we use the army on them, not to mention the peasants are where we get most of our soldiers from in the first place.

Only if they're subjugation their friends. If we make like the Romans, recruit regiments locally and never let them operate at home then it'll be fine.

What would we have the soldiers do when we're not at war then? Start another war just so the soldiers aren't operating in our nation? But then how would we stop the peasants from getting greedy? Or do you mean we should recruit from the local nations and just not use them against their own nation? To be honest, the wording of your sentence has me slightly confused.

I mean, we recruit a regiment from the west, and they always operate in the East. That sorta stuff. I imagine we're plenty big enough as a nation that most people only see a comparatively small portion. Thry just need to be somewhere they don't recognise, far from home.

I could see that helping, but I still think passing a bill of rights only to start pacifying greedy peasantry with our army goes against the whole point of the bill of rights, which was to protect citizens from the government abusing them too harshly. And the thing is, if we want to continue expanding in the same pattern we have we need to be able to crush rebellions with our army when needs be without breaking things like the bill of rights. The thing is, I do think that the bill of rights is a good idea, we just need to wait until the time is right to pass it, which is not now.

Later doesn't mean 'Rebellion by the people immenent'. The earlier we do it the better, especially since we use it doubly so for propaganda in the upcoming civil war too if we can do it that early.

I don't think we should use it when a rebellion is imminent, since that'll just make them more likely to be more greedy and may also be seen as a sign of weakness, I just think that there will be a better time to do it in the future.

It would also act as an attraction to other elements; If we give our people (not necessarily nobles) rights, then they are more apt to grow, think and become more productive as a whole. I am in support of the bill of rights.
