Military units don't require any resources, only cash.

In order to get a freighter you need a level 2 shipyard and the freighter it's self will cost you 1 mil.  If you, or anyone else, wants I can make and sell a freighter.

Thanks Shooer, at some point that'd be awesome, although, I'm definitely still maybe a week(?) away from being able to handle the kind of volume that would make that profitable.

Aries Corporation.
Saw radioactive metals were in demand on the start screen, so I went for that, and placed down on Mars which was a recommended site with 15 of them.

Did not occur to me till after that I might have been shooting myself in the foot on shipping, oops.

Transportation, time more than cost early on, can be a pretty big barrier. It costs me just to ship a few grid squares away.

Threw my hat into the corpo world!

'GenTech' would love an invite, but I am still a bit unsure as to what I'm doing at the moment.  ???
Hopefully basic minerals isn't the worst thing to start with.

Basic Minerals might actually be one the worst things to start with lol, on earth anyways. The demand for basic minerals from any one city is less than 80% max. YOU/WE will need minerals for tier 2 materials (components as they call them, which have better margins), but alone they aren't worth very much right now. You might try metals or or exotic minerals (which are still in demand on earth).

This all goes out the window on other planets, idk how things are looking in the colonies yet.

Well ain't that a bugger? Shows me right for listening to the game on saying what was most in demand!

Guess I will have to look into diversifying into something better! Thanks for the tip :)

EDIT: Annndddd I just realized that 2 companies can have the exact same name. Will have to come up with something else...

Yea, im also having a slow time of it, things are a bit lean now that im transitioning to components.

EDIT: Also let me know if you guys want custom company logos, im happy to make them to specification!

EDIT: Also im changing my company name to reflect that I probably won't be an agriculture-based entity for some time, to something like AS Holdings & Exports. I'm ASNE Holding Company now.

I'm Evilution Biologies, would gladly join the guild.
I'm in Karachi, currently running for leader of the city.

Has anyone bothered with the NPC missions yet?
The reward seems kind of meh compared to the sheer volume you'd have to move for many, most look like you'd need a freighter for them.
Might test them out once my first one is finished.

Has that ever happened before?

Guild invites have been sent.

I was planning on testing out the NPC missions at some point.  Only problem has been every time I finished a freighter I found a job for it.

Can recommend getting into higher tier products, if just for the ability to sell to a wider array of demands at a profit.

Nice, if I can be successful in components, I may be able to start shipping out to Mars myself! Then cities will grow and we can go ham!

I'm considering liquidating and moving my base of operations elsewhere, any suggestions on what markets to get into?

EDIT: Ive decided to head back to the raw resources market to build up some more capital before trying to go to a higher tier again. Not sure when I will hit critical mass.
