Hey, so I'm trying to set up an economy for Wolf. Or at least Wolf I. If anyone wants in, I can give you ACPs and some low level units there. Also money.

You know, having just set up a five stop cycle for a scout to run through, buying low and selling high, demand is extremely weird. For example, I'm finding end products with a demand of 10%

What's the city's population and volume for the end product in question? It's possible you're looking at a city that was boosted but no longer has that support, sending the volume into free fall. Someone could then crash the demand for a product by selling significant amounts of that product to the city (and are probably still doing so if demand is flat at 10%). It's also possible there's an active event in the city suppressing demand for that product.

You don't need to visit cities to view their demand. Use "Corporate > Reporting > Product Demand By City" to view the demand for a product or category all across Sol on a single chart.

For my single scout roaming around, they've got enough volume, but yeah it looks mostly under 500 units at each city.

One question I can't find an answer to though. Asteroid mining is related to power, but I dont see a power statistic anywhere. Is that the units attack power, or something else, and can upgrades change it?

Edit: NVM, its on the more info page for each ship. Now to test if power changes with any upgrade.

City volume accounts for everyone selling to the city in a single turn. If the volume is 500, and five players sell 100 units each on the same turn, then demand will fall by one point. When demand for a specific product is particularly high, its not unusual to see a bunch of people jump on it, fulfilling the volume and driving down demand. If the volume is particularly low, and one or two of those players aren't paying attention to the sales on a day-to-day basis, that's how you can end up with demand falling well under 100.

I don't do asteroid mining so I can't help you with that part of your question. That said, ship power is doubled at level 10. I don't think the type of upgrade matters in this case.

Does anyone know if you need to specifically deploy fighter/bomber wings before an attack? What about other ground units?

My ground units fight with the carrier they're loaded on without having to be unloaded. That said, I haven't fought a space battle with them, but I don't think ground units deploy in space (other than commandos, air units, and possibly infantry when defending).

That said, carriers are not particularly useful combatants on their own, so it may be useful to unload one tile away and move the ground units separately so you don't end up with a dead carrier and units trapped on the wrong planet.

I've not gotten far enough to test any of this, but I've seen that advice regarding unloading on the discord.

Also, Leyic, I dont think that thing about ship power doubling is accurate, as I've several lvl 10 scouts in both pure speed and pure cargo have 50 power, unless its an invisible bonus.

A unit's "More Info" tab only shows the base attributes (level 1 stats). (The damage chart is accurate for the unit's level, however.) This means that to see a unit's true power rating, you have to put it into a group or fleet by itself, and then look at the group's power rating.

Was there a system that we intended to colonize? I wish to expand, as I'm making money hand over fist yet have few expenses.

I always need people in Wolf. Currently I'm trying to set up some independent industry there- I have a level 4 city on Wolf I, that I've been feeding imports from Earth, and I want to feed it domestic.

Alright, just shipped out a frigate loaded for starting up. Will figure out and deploy acps later today.

Edit: Looks like I'm gonna settle down on Wolf 7. Not sure what I'm gonna produce, but going to try to go for as big a cross section as I can of at least tier 2 goods.

Space would be tempting if there wasn't so much opportunity on earth.  Just checked my civilian services business in Phoenix, and with only 3 factories (all lvl. 5 or below) and my HQ I apparently raked in 1 billion over the last 500 turns.  At last count my original chicken business (of which I produce like 1000 per tick) only accounts for like 3% of profits.

(Ok, so I did kinda crash the chicken market on Earth.  But still, public services are where its at.)

Space you make your own opportunity. Use you're profits on earth as a springboard, and join us in glorious Wolf.

Also a1s, is there anything you want me to fill in regarding industries?

Edit: Pirate Base on Wolf 7. Doing raids against me. Any reason not to make it explode?

Edit2: Perfect reason not to make it explode. Evidently they're fairly durable against a destroyer and a frigate, and that unique pirate destroyer is incredibly powerful.

Well, I've decided to send an exploratory vessel to Wolf with a couple APCs to see what I can get done out there.  I'm going to set up a Poultry ranch and then figure what I want to produce in system.  With two APCs  to spare I just want to know what I can get supplied out there, and if there are any people with Distribution centers in the system who'd take bulk poultry.
