The team pulls up to a large brick apartment building in the middle of a city. The nearby structures had all been evacuated-but the severed limbs, mangled corpses, and blood splatters leading to the entrance suggests this one wasn't. Disgusted by the sight, the soldiers quickly trudge forward checking the equipment for any incoming ambushes (with one soldier checking behind them-in case the dead decided they didn't want to stay that way).
While there were signs of a one-sided fight throughout the building, there was no sign of any enemy contacts for the first floor-even with the Brighteyes scanning the area including through the ceiling. The soldiers make their way to the stairwell when a massive object crashes down from above-flinging one Unobtainum operator into the wall. Standing in a crater of broken stairs is an Armor-who had jumped down from what was apparently the top floor. In one hand was a massive spiked warhammer, black and runed like the armor itself. In his other was an Imp, struggling to get free of its steely grip. Tied to its hip with a sturdy rope was a second Imp, struggling in vain for freedom like the first.
The Armor points the Imp at the grouped up soldiers-squeezing it with force. The poor creature's eyes bulge as it gives a nauseating screech-before exploding into an enormous fireball targeted at the soldiers. Scorched by the intense flames, the ground turns black as the walls crumble away. After the blast subsides-a good thirty seconds-the cameras show that every soldier had (by an incredible feet of luck and reflexes) manged to retreat from the blaze. The sword wielder had even manged to carry the wounded soldier to safety by some miracle. The armor-unsatisfied with the result, rips the second imp from its makeshift holster and impales it over the spike of its warhammer. A scream imitating the first's emits from the imp before the warhammer bursts into flame.
Our soldiers open fire on the Armor-the bullets sparking off its body making it look like a firework exploding. Despite the heavy fire it's taking, it begins stepping forward undaunted. Three grenades fly toward it...only to be bashed away by by three blindingly fast swings of the massive hammer causing them to explode far away from the target. It quickly makes distance toward the soldiers. Gripping the sword tightly, the swordsman grits his teeth. As if to compete with the brilliant sparkling of the bullets, the sword begins to glow more intensely than it had before. Now only meters from the soldiers, the Armor prepares to charge-only for a bullet of light to explode from the sword. A circular hole the size of a dinner plate had been blown clearly through the center of the creature-and the wall behind it-and apparently through the thankfully abandoned buildings behind the wall. The Armor crumples to the floor, its flaming weapon bouncing twice on the ground before falling extinguished.
The soldiers treat the injured soldier the best they could, finding that he had several broken bones but was otherwise fine. They "borrowed" his grenades and weapon before moving along with the mission. Skipping past the room sweeps and the gruesome scenes throughout the building, the second encounter was not until the top floor. Our soldiers were moving forward at the ready when three blips appeared on the Brighteyes-advancing slowly but steady down the hallway towards the group. They take up a position, prepared to enter combat at a moment's notice. In a matter of time, three normal looking humans in normal looking street cloths turn around the corner. The Brighteyes tell a different story-two Mongrel-like contacts with a Ghoul-like signature in the middle.
We immediately open fire. The accurate and high-caliber Unobtaniums quickly make a mess of the creatures on the left and the right-cracking open their heads and torsos in a seconds notice. Our survivors claim that the middle signature became a blur, and was unharmed by the burst. Almost immediately, the two apparent corpses reassemble as if the video feed was played backwards. They suddenly explode in size-turning into the famous image of a half-man half-wolf before charging forward. Bullets continue to slam into them-some leaving impressive looking wounds all across their body that are erased faster than they appear. In no time they are in melee distance.
One charges an Unatonium operator-only to get blindsided by the swordsman. The blade cuts through the creature as easily as it cuts through other matter, leaving the wolf in two halves. At least, for the blink of an eye-the creatures amazing regenerative powers fix this impossibly fatal wound nearly instantly. From the ground it grabs the swordsman's leg in its clawed fist. This time, the Unobtainum operator returns the favor by jamming the gun's sturdy spike through the creature's head and releasing a burst. The grip loosens, though the wounds heal near instantly. The swordsman continues to cut chunks off the wolf as the Unobtainum user continues to pull the trigger-the new wounds continue to repair themselves under this vicious assault though it leaves the creature unable to act. After what seems like an eternity, the regenerative abilities are finally overcome. The corpse is turned into a mess and stays that way.
Meanwhile, the second Werewolf faces off at the other side of the hallway. A burst from the H.O.S.E stoppes the creature's charge-holding its arm to the wall and leg to the floor. Without hesitation, it gnaws both appendages off itself and continued the charge- strafing serpentine in an attempt to escape the foam. The beast lunges toward the soldier's neck with its slobbering jaw-only to get a face-full of foam for its trouble. The creature's claws raised up to remove the foam from itself-removing a good deal of its own flesh as necessary to escape the bonds. Unfortunately for it the weapon excels at this range-it immediately glues the claws to its face. A burst of super-strength cracks the hands free, but the spray continues its work. In no time, the wolf is a statue aside from its mouth. The form shrinks-reverting to human and freeing itself from the foam before a gunshot appears from behind it. The creature's human head clumps over and refuses to regenerate-just when it looked as if you would be able to capture it alive.
The remaining creature retreats- laughing in a swarm of bats. Our soldiers pour fire at it to no obvious effect-though it looks like the building has been cleared for now. You are awarded 90R by the higher-ups, penalized by the injured soldier and escaped hostile.
(You guys got super lucky on rolls this round too
