Brilliant, it's a vampire.  A more real-world-mythology vampire sleeping in a coffin.
You have vampires on the mind. It could also be a secret passage! Or maybe their spouse was buried in there?

It could also be a secret passage!

I thought of that, but I don't trust that shifty character.  And I will fill the Justice screen with accusations if I have to.

Hmm . . . could well be a vampire. The bandana would be to cover its bloody mouth after feeding. So now it's resting/sleeping and not alert, right?

So we could go back and kill it, maybe be a hero?

Or at least bite it and become a vampire kobold?

. . . That does seem to be good logic (at least by Dwarf Fortress rules), and a total of three votes for "go back."

Okay, how about do an honest self-assessment of sneaking skills re: the ability to cross a wide-open space with lots of onlookers, and in case of negative prognosis just go back.

The real question is "Do we follow DF Adventure tradition and intentionally vampirize ourselves for profit".

Count Koboldula would be sneaky indeed.

EDIT: +1 to following the well-thought-out plan of movement by Sir Knight the Cartographer.

-1 to self-vampirizing. I only intended to make a point for discussion, not for my actual choice.
I'm currently leaning against the vampire hypothesis anyway, because on a second look there's more than just a bandana that's odd there.
No sideburns. Possibly no beard, either?! In fact, except for height that dwarf looks kinda human.
Although that doesn't explain what business he has inside a coffin.
And I can't figure out what the orange thing is that he's holding.
A piece of paper or parchment maybe? Secret plans?
Any other guesses?

+1 to proceeding stealthily if self-assessment checks out.
The next door with the grey figures may be the one our allies want, but any exploration is fine with me.
Actually, no. Don't go any farther than the second door on the left. We really do not want to find ourselves in that arena-looking place.

First thing's first. We need better cover than a few lumps of cave moss and microcline. We must pass as a traveling performer on our way to The Spicy Olive.

Tie a string to the axe to make a kludujalambus.*

*A mid-sized hand-held stringed instrument with a wooden neck connecting to a metal body. The string is tied from the top of the neck down over the body and the musician picks the string with a wooden plectrum. The instrument has a one octave range going from a middle to a mid-high pitch. The instrument has a quavering harsh nasal buzzy timbre.

Uh, what?

I believe this is the idea. Frankly posing as a bard is the most realistically coherent plan we've had. DF-canon-wise weird races of bard show up all the time at any fort with a tavern.

If it's realisticly coherent we can't do it, so -1 to that plan
