“If I fall, I'll at least fall in the water”

"That would be excellent if we had a swimming ability, or some kind of swimming research."

Regarding difficult terrain (like water or cliffs), they'll take 2 movement in water, and anything higher than E5 needs 3 movement, which you only have 2.

However, there's no movement penalty on water once boats are invented.

Also, I forgot to update the spreadsheet to show the +1 movement bonus from Fast.

(The "Locked" equipment slot will be unlocked when wearing a bag)

Grey will use her labor to clear the ground around the food stockpile, (F6) and begins research on basic hygiene.

We are civilized now, we ought to look like it.

It seems the GM is not too fond of keeping secrets from us. I'm not sure how I feel about a Gridland Survival with spoilers like this.

dang parental control internet time limits

here's your update

Day Two
Food Status:
(Upkeep/Stored/Rationed/Planted)
5/21/0/0

Without a light source, nothing could be found.
A bat flies out, and gets blinded by the sunlight and falls into the water, helplessly drowning. For this batlike species,
The sun is a deadly laser!

The corpse falls into an alternate dimension, never to be seen again the lake.

Jiu attempts to climb the cliff at F6, but gets down to eat, since there's not enough movement points to scale the cliff. (3/5 movement required)

Books joins Jiu, but doesn't climb the cliff because there's not enough movement to climb it.
Both Books and Jiu decide to do some digging research, adding 11 research to Digging.

Bernard attempts to forage, and finds a yellow fruit with seeds on the outside, next to a cracked green cube. He also finds an orange ore nugget lying on the ground, next to a rock with a hole.

Grey decides to tidy up the food stockpile, and begins researching basic hygiene.

The tribe eats a great dinner of 5 Mysterious Fruit.

(P.S: What should the tribe be called? Also, you can name objects as they're discovered.)

"Let us be known as the Hiu Mihns", Jiu suggests

Jiu swims into the lake to retrieve the little bat
She continues researching digging.

Grey decides that the bat like creatures will be called Bipers (singular Bip) she then picks up one of the mysterious fruits (which she names dawn fruit) and moves to F7. Here, she uses all her labor to forage for anything useful, and counties to research basic hygiene.

(You probably shouldn't be mentioning ores at this point. We only just gained sentience, we don't even have an idea what metal is, much less metalworking, much less ores or refinement.)

Bernard discusses names. He believes that Grey intended Dawn Fruit to be the name of the item that is literally called "Mysterious Fruit" and not the yellow one.

"As for the yellow one... Since I am the only one who actually collected any food, the naming rights of that item belong to me! Also, 'Hiu Mihns' is a horrible name. It sounds like some kind of gross hairless ape. I vote against it."

Bernard names the yellow fruit with seeds "Smack Fruit"
Bernard names the Unnamed Ore "Oreange"
Bernard continues to forage at E6

I wonder if you've gotten the reference for the imperfectly generic object yet.

It's like a perfectly generic object except it's a bit messed up?

Will we find a pumpkin next?

The homestuck reference will make an interesting research subject when we can afford to research not-food.

Maybe we could in the future make an alchemiser.

Or the existence of an apparently aged perfectly generic object is evidence of an alchemiser nearby to be discovered.
