Might be worth shoving a poll on this thread for people in engineers vs people in generals.

Might be worth shoving a poll on this thread for people in engineers vs people in generals.

Done so.  Made votes able to be changed so people that drop out can remove theirs from the total of the side they joined, as well as a measure for the times civil wars spark off.

Forgot to include the bayonet and the ore cost of the pistol in your initial equipment.  That is now fixed.

The Meeting for the 1860 shall begin soon.

(I'm going to be putting this phrase, with year modified, up for reference of when these began, with a similar piece for when they end.  Just so people can track down when they started and ended if they read through this later.)

Yaknow, I think that there might have been some missed opportunity with manufacturing time, what with about 90% of designs from round about now to the early 20th century working rather hard to convert old gear and all.

Ugh, this place smells of oil and filth. One almost imagines that they might arrive still in their aprons...

Hmm, I hope the Engineers will finish their presentation soon, so we can get to work on revising our doctrine.

You expect promptness from filthy beggars? I told you that it was a mistake to let them hire these buffoons. With the expens of these clowns we could of had another cavalry regiment! Hard steel and a courageous heart! That is what we need! Not some useless gizmo that breaks as soon as you touch the thing...

Pah, engineers may be... odd, but I, for one, understand the value of technology, though doctrine is the only way they truly work properly.

Slights of this sort against members of our Imperial Department of Engineering, particularly members of the nobility(or, for that matter in one case, a cadet line of the imperial family) will not be tolerated. Why on earth would anyone allow serfs to serve in such a noble capacity? They have not the mental energy to follow more than the most base rote commands, as you in the general staff must recognize.

As for the late development of our presentation this week, many of our noble staff where away for the holidays, visiting their estates across the empire, and have only just returned. So hold your tongue, knave!

Bah, hangers-on and troublemakers. What noboilty can truly thrive when one never sees the glories of a battle and holds themselves in some cosy manor playing with toys while real men defend the lands?

Say what you will about the masculinity of the engineers, but remember--without these men and their toys, we would be left to defend our Emperor and his realm with naught but our swords, against all the devilry of modern war. I doubt that you find that to be an appealing proposition.
