I was debating between writing up a middle-of-nowhere hicktown from which lived a hickman who led his gang of hicks on a crusade to find out where the corn went or a standard corporate executive Director of Research in a bunker, but I guess someone read my mind and wrote the option I didn't pick anyways.

You are Edda Ninsdottir, officer in the Icelandic Navy.  You were on vacation in Arhus, Denmark when the Torus appeared.  Dark purple, floating over the city less then a quarter mile up and at least the size of a modern stadium.  When the orange gas and monstrosities started pouring down you and a large number of other people fled into the newly constructed light rail underground system.  A combination of leadership and luck led your group through sub-basements, utility hallways and long forgotten passages to relative safety.

1,2,5,4

Only a small group of people are in the basement when you finally stop fleeing and take a good look around.  You introduce each other and find a number of armed Politiet officers in addition to soldiers, on vacation like you, from a number of NATO countries, are among those who survived.  Attempts to contact official channels fall through and it is determined you are the most senior military officer present.  The few civilians do not put up much of an issue with being ordered around, most too in shock to really respond.

You take stock of your resources:

Survivors: 2
Morale: 1
Supplies: 6
Defenses: 3

The tunnels link up to a lot of useful areas you can easily procure supplies of food and materials from.  However many of the people are in terrible condition mentally and some talk about "finding anywhere better" or "taking the fight to the enemy".  Both difficult prospects with no information and only a few handguns and metal poles as weapons.

You set about the task of ensuring the survival of these people.  Some want to secure the tunnels against future attack, others see learning about the alien menace as a priority.  Some of the politiet want to go to a nearby police station to loot it for weapons and look for survivors.

Choose 1:
A: Explore and secure the tunnel system.
B: Seek out the monsters and weirdness to learn things !
C: Explore the nearby police station for weapons and survivors !
D: Scout out nearby areas and maybe a base of operations.
E: We have some supplies, let's loot more.

Choose 1:
1: Spend some supplies sprucing up the basement and making it more livable.
2: Give an inspiring speech about sticking together.

You start making a speech about how everyone needs to pull together but words start failing you.  In the end you just assign out tasks to people, splitting into small groups to scout out and secure the underground.

Quote
4-1

The tunnels in all seem to stretch over several city blocks and have access to many buildings.  Only a small space is needed for now so many doors are boarded up so that nothing can get in easily.

No one is quite sure which team missed an entrance, but the thing which is caught floating down the halls is not spotted until it is very near the sleeping area.  It looks like a plate of bone a meter across covered in spikes at the top with five purple tentacles dangling bellow, each ending in a sharp black spike.  It is hovering above the ground and dripping an acrid orange liquid from somewhere.

You organize a few combatants to:

A: Evacuate the civilians to a different area and retreat.
B. Surround the thing and attack.
C. Shoot at it from a distance with your 9mm pistol.
D. Have someone try to communicate with it.
E. Observe it's behavior from a distance.
