Act friendly, grab the book and then fold space back around and trap him within!

You stride into the chamber confidently, and greet the Vizier as an old and cherished friend. He turns suddenly, puzzled. Hello, you bid him, and he cautiously and wordlessly gives a slight nod, clutching the book. He has no idea who you are. You ask after his health and the state of his house, which puzzles him further. HE DOES NOT KNOW YOU but we know what he is

Anyway, you tell him quickly over a rising clamor of shouting corpses, you came down here to check on his business and can you just say, you love what he's done with the place. You start shaking his hand. The corpse tree shakes, and the Vizier's body, quite unsteady on its feet, returns the handshake hesitantly. So you put your other hand on the Book. Luckily the safe words are not required. YEAH THOSE ARE MORE FOR PEOPLE NOT ALREADY FULL OF DEMONS

Nevertheless, something within you shudders as an infernal cascade of horror is nearly wrought upon you, and you almost neglect to break the handshake and seize the Book with both hands as the final piece of the trap comes into being, and the Vizier spontaneously finds himself standing over a pit that, while technically not bottomless, he will almost certainly never see the bottom of. There is a terrible screech as he and his entourage of possessed corpses tumble downwards, branches and claws taking futile swipes at you as you jump back with the Book in hand, and the terrible powers within you scream in unison as the pocket of space the Vizier currently occupies folds in on him.

There is an ethereal screech, and you laugh a little too maniacally as you examine the artifact in your possession, and then look at the nascent Black Gate, still existent but apparently not in a mood to expand particularly quickly. AHA THERE IS A THING TO DO HERE yes yes yes The solution really is quite simple! THROW THE BOOK INTO THE GATE and chant the words And you can consider my favor done!

A) Fair enough, do as they say and be rid of this damned Book and the Gate in one fell swoop. Rest assured that we are far better friends than anything that could come through there.
B) What! Your predecessor died to get this book, you're not about to throw it away on a demon's request! You'll just take a look and see if you can't close the Gate on your own.
C) It's hardly hurting anyone right now, is it? Leave the Gate where it is, the situation is already under control.

If one guy can figure out how to use it to gain immortality, so can we.

"Hello queen you should have listen yo old spymaster. Vizier tried to open a gate to a thousand hells just below your chamber and planned to betray you and put this world under a reign of darkness and shit. And we got possessed, in many ways, by eldritch beings Oh, the eternal youth? lies, but we can arrange that in not so dangerous worlds, now fuck you."

I decided to look back at the previous threads for information and I found something pretty interesting.

She breathes for a second. Well, she says, the book wasn't to be found there, she is sad to say. She did talk to that Yugrom of Kudu fellow, however, and he had quite a bit to say for himself.

Really, you lean in toward her skeptically.

Yes, she continues, seems like he didn't really need that book after a certain point and he said he, er, chucked it somewhere. Specifically, he chucked it into another plane of existence. "So's not to keep bloody tripping over the damn thing all the time" were his exact words if she recalls correctly.

Another plane of existence? How the hell are you supposed to get it, then?

Kalja shrugs. She didn't have a lot of time to question him, truth be told, but the way he went on she got the impression stepping between planes is something he doesn't give much thought. He did say he last remembers putting the book in the Hell of Ten Thousand Needles. Oh, and there's a phrase you need to use if you want to handle it safely, he said it gets a little ornery otherwise. She relates the phrase, which to you is a jumble of nonsense words.

Right then, you say. And the other agents?

Sadly possessed by demons, she shakes her head, along with the pirate crew she brought for muscle. Lethop is... not a friendly place for living things.

As you can see it is possible to use the book properly, but turning the region into an uninhabitable hellscape seems to be an unfortunate side effect. It also seems like the Vizier didn't know the safe word. Did we ever tell him?

EDIT:
Iouni can't help but grin at this, and has the Vizier called in. He is similarly gobsmacked, and sings your praises as the words to operate the Book are rendered unto him with Princess Annika's well-meaning pointers on how not to die horribly while using it.

Turns out we did tell him. He still managed to screw it up regardless.

Now see here, you tell the demonic voices pressing on your mind, a lot of people have done a lot of things they are not at all proud of to get their hands on this book and besides, it's not up to you to be chucking it places. BUT YOU COULD and you really should

You open the Book of Hez-Shalhoub and ponder its passages on gates, dark or otherwise - the mad scribblings swim before your eyes, secrets tempting you to pull them free and jam them into the cracks in reality, wrenching open bold new horizons, fresh new maddening revelations...! Precious little on how to close them, precious little, yes... but there is a passage your eyes gravitate you. It approaches the matter from a less-than-obvious angle, but you think with the right sort of assistance you could WAIT NO Perhaps you can talk about this! yes they would like to have a chance to persuade you

Persuade you, you grin and look upon the Gate. How so? SIMPLE there are things you want from this book And we know what these things are! we can give them to you in fact POWER glory Immortality! though this requires a certain relationship you understand YOU NEED TO DO AS YOU ARE TOLD just this once mind you and maybe once or twice more Rid yourself of the Book and the rewards will be great indeed! cast it aside REMOVE IT FROM THIS REALM FOREVER It's very clever, you see, putting the Book in exactly the realm you need the Book to reach! everybody's happy except the ones who don't count AND THEY DON'T COUNT FOR A REASON THE CHEEKY BASTARDS They'll steal your soul, you know, just like they did the Vizier's! the book opens the gate AND AS WE SAID, BEYOND THE GATE LIE THINGS FAR WORSE THAN THE LIKES OF US

A) You think you'll chance closing this yourself, thank you very much. The Book is too valuable to lose.
B) Immortality? Why didn't you say so right away? Immortality happens to be just what you're looking for!
C) You're not a strong believer in immortality. But you would like yourself a good deal of power and glory.
