Bay12 Evo Game
« on: May 09, 2017, 11:32:24 am »

I don't know if anyone on bay12 is familiar with Evo games, so here are the rules.

1: Anything may be said to be extinct, but only by me.
2: All creatures must be evolved from previous ones.
3: Anyone is welcome.

How to play:

1: Choose a creature to evolve
2: Edit picture if it has any affect on biology.
3: Upload to imgur or any other site.
4: Post it here. Explain what happened, and why. "Aliens", "Magic", and other such explanations will make me destroy the creature. Images should be in spoilers.
5: Keep it gradual. No "These have now developed space-travel" out of nowhere.
6: Evo text must be in green.
Code: [Select]
text

Here is the starting creature and plant:

The animal (On the left) feeds on the algae. It has a primitive eyespot that it uses to spot the algae, and then eat with its tentacles.
The algae, (on the right) just uses photosynthesis.

The world has no land yet.

If it's not serious, use red instead.

Oh wow, you just reminded me of the evo game I ran a few months ago and completely forgot to update. Whoops.

The Shlurp evolves longer tentacles to catch the algae more efficiently.

Shlambo evolved to be much more dormant than its ancestors. It has grown many tentacles with which it filters the water for food.

Event time!

Due to the competition for food, the Shlurp and Shlambo must vye for survival!

Rolls:
 • Each creature rolls 1d12 every turn.
 • A creature must roll below 6.5 for three turns to go extinct.
 • If a creature gets a 12 or higher, they get +1 to their next roll.
 • When a creature rolls 3 or lower, they get -0.5 to their next roll.
Bonuses:
The Shlambo:
 • Food catching: +0.5
 • Dormancy: +0.3 (Less food used.)
Total: +0.8
The Shlurp:
 • Food Catching: +0.6
Total: +0.6
Who will win? Or will one of these species develop a new niche, stopping the event? We'll see!

(Meta: Wanted to speed up the evoloutions a bit, since the game was getting a bit slow. Also, only having two taken niches is a tiny bit boring. You can evolve the plant, by the way.)

Of course! Feel free to evolve in any event, while it's active! Unless I state otherwise, you can evolve during anything.

A strain of algae known as Algae-17 develops minor toxins to repel predators, improving its chance for survival.
