Well, who are you going to arrest them with? The cops aren't exactly armed for taking down a paramilitary organisation, and a failed coup hardly hurt the nazis as well :P

The only thing that can stop a bad paramilitary organization with a gun is a good paramilitary organization with a gun.
That's how it works, right?

Well, assuming the same level of training and organisation, yeah. Problem is that comparatively the FSG is more well organised, supplied and trained than any other paramilitary.

That's a pretty unequivocal statement there, not one hundred percent sure it's true, considering that most adult men in Forenia are probably war vets with far more experience than the Germans.

Skills do get rusty, and there's more to war than firing a gun.

We don't need paramilitary anything.

Have you considered the kind of people filling our SWAT team equivalents? Hardened war vets with all the weapons a civilian could ever have and then some. Oh, and they have the authority to use them. All of them.

SWAT is a recent invention, and likely the FSG was filling that gap in law enforcement anyway.

This isn't like Germany or even America.  Forenian ditizens are explicitly stated to have access to tanks and heavy weapons as well as having regularly managed riots, and these citizens are still kept in order by the police.  The police of Forenia are likely more than well enough equipped, and some branches might possibly given new equipment created by the weapons designers for the purposes of field testing.

As another point of difference between this situation and Germany, there is the fact that the German monarch, while unpopular, was removed by an outside force over a decade before with very severe repartations forced upon them.  This coup was against a government born in an internal revolution against an autocratic state that finished about three years ago after a struggle for well past a decade and is in the middle of a war with an outside power.  In this situation, being arrested means you would be lucky as lethal force is likely authorized to eliminate those that resist.

Edit: And further, Hitler wasn't killed during his attempt.  This guy actually was.

Here's perhaps a better point: in the event of fighting breaking out between the NFPP and the other parties of the country, the other countries are likely to far outnumber the NFPP, and since the coup has led to arming up, chances are they're about as gunned up and armored up as the FSG even if they aren't technically paramilitary groups.

You also can't claim the FSG were part of law enforcement at all, considering the NFPP never had majority.

Again, there's the point about being better supplied and organised; numbers don't mean much if they aren't being co-ordinated effectively or efficiently.

You're making an awful lot of assumptions that paint the NFPP as this superior organization, but you don't have any evidence to back this up.

I very severely doubt that the FSG are anywhere near as well supplied or organized as the Forenian police.  Especially since the FSG have likely been around for a single year, while the Police were around since the rebels took over the government.

The fact the FSG is inherently a paramilitary organisation that does emulate the military in training and tactics.

But seriously I find the entire situation hilarious because the NFPP is villified for trying to remove dictatorial power from the prime minister (Given that the prime minster is both head of state and head of government at the same time).

@Zan if the police are modelled on the civilian police of another country, the FSG would be better equipped and trained for combat.

Yes, but this is Forenia. Clearly our police aren't equipped like the civilian police of other, less cool countries.
Have you seen the Arstotzkan City Police Death Ball? Not exactly a great day for a criminal gang when the Arstotzkan police arrive with the Death Ball at the footsteps of that gang's little operation.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!
