Because we can't afford to lose the jungle:
UF-39-APC "Salamander" Pattern F

Similar to the Pattern B model, the Pattern F Salamander (the F stands for Fire) differs from its cousin by featuring a coaxial flamethrower in the 20 mm turret.  Commonly referred to as the "Charmander" by troops, the Pattern F has an effective range of 200 meters and a sustained burst time of 30 seconds.  Unlike Cannala's flamethrowing APC, the Pattern F can move and fire at the same time thanks to a dedicated generator and pump.  Due to the needed storage space for the fuel and generator, passenger capacity is correspondingly reduced.  The flamethrower makes use of Napalm , a gelatinous form of gasoline which allows flames to persist for longer durations.  In order to combat the introduction of tandem-charge warheads in Cannalan RPG's, the Pattern F makes heavy use of sturdy slats and fences over its surface in addition to ERA.

Hard: 6
UF-39-APC "Salamander" Pattern F: F stands for Fire. Instead of an autocannon, this Salamander has a flamethrower powered by a strong electric pump. It fires "Napalm", a thickened fuel substance, up to 100 meters. This napalm is stored in a large tank so the weapon can be used in prolonged engagements, which reduces passenger capacity. In addition, this design includes armor slats which fit above the ERA and are not destroyed when the ERA detonates, providing additional protection against Cannalan twin-charge warheads, although its exact performance is unproven. This applies to all Salamanders.

Because it's still a major issue:
Quote from: Revision
UF-RJ-43 'Fair Fight Module' Pattern B

A smaller, more efficient variant of our previous Fair Fight Module.  Now protects against proximity-fuzed AAA!  Small and efficient enough to be fitted to our fighters without appreciable hits to performance.  Can prematurely detonate enemy proximity fuzes from a safe distance.

I think this is better than reverse-engineering the missile.

The missile has a range of a couple miles, shorter than AAA range.  Plus, this helps both on land and sea, and lets us ground attack and paratroop drop again.

UF-SPMRL-42 "Macross" Pattern A: A modification to the UF-MRL-40 'SARUKH', the Macross mounts an 8x2 array of SARUKH rockets mounted on a rotating turret base in the bed of an L-1 Tiger truck rather than in a trailer.  The better suspension and size of the vehicle compared to a trailer should allow for more stability when firing, and therefore greater accuracy than what is currently achieved.  The trailer hitch of the L-1 tiger is kept in order to allow for the truck to carry the existing trailer-mounted SARUKH launchers to provide additional firepower, or alternatively a trailer carrying more ammo if an L-1 Truck isn't performing that task.

UF-SPMRL-42 "Macross" Pattern B: Same as the above, but efforts are made in order to allow it to fire while mobile.

Dug up this old thing.

Pattern B is basically meaningless. You can fire the thing on the move just fine, but don't expect accuracy if the truck is bouncing around. In order to make it accurate, you'd have to go to lengths FAR outside the scope of a revision (i.e., stabilizing the whole launch rack)

Revision: UF-MRL-43 'SARUKH 2: SARUKH SMARTER':

A modification of the Sarukh multiple missile launch system to make it a dangerous anti air missile.  A hair trigger magnetic detonator from our torpedo design is triggered after several seconds of flight and the payload is turned into an anti-plane fragmentation charge which damages a much larger area than before.  The device is aimed with instructions from a radar ground station, making it dangerous to bombers and other slow moving aircraft.

Just applying our current tech to the Sarukh.

I would still steal their missile, for purpose of making our own.

The charmander has about 13 times the range of our old flamethrower. That is good.

You know if we modified the Sarukh to have a napalm delivery system of some sort it would have 80 times the range of the Salamander F.

This is unlikely to be highly effective. High-explosive warheads with fragments will have a larger area of effect than a payload of napalm, which is important for the Sarukh because it is not terribly accurate.

I am still voting for the missile theft. We are not after the missile itself so much as the experience in automated aeronautics.

Quote from: Revision Contest
The SARUKH was not planned years in advance.
The Salamander came when it was needed, as did the wildly successful Pattern F variant.
The Firecracker and Wasp Nest were both drafted and laid down in the same season the idea was first spoken aloud.
The Fair Fight and Reality Check were dreamed up, designed, and created within three months - all to meet the needs of our military and the rapidly changing battlefield.
The humble Whalesong, arguably the most effective weapon we've developed in recent memory, was a spur of the moment inspiration.

Forenia has the unique and often unappreciated ability to adapt to the world around it.  We have consistently come up with unique and fresh ideas to meet each and every challenge as it appears.  Our armory is wide and diverse, with a flexible array of equipment to meet any and every need - even with such a wide coverage, our proud nation still have multiple examples of equipment that surpasses anything Cannala can or has fielded.  Where other nations would design Wunderwaffe's and spend years on development, our ability to quickly and effectively adapt is what puts us on a level playing field against an opponent who - until three months ago - was the unrivaled naval super power in the archipelago.

It is for this reason I would hold up Forenia as the shining example of what a design team should aspire to.  The most effective equipment a nation can field is that which achieves its goals, and this -

- this is what Forenia does best.

Revision: Napalm Everywhere
We have napalm. Lets put it in every delivery method that can hold napalm.
Bombs, firecracker bomblets, sarukh rockets, artillery shells, mortar shells, RPG rockets, hand grenades.
Fuck the jungle. Burn it all.

Crossed out because we got napalm bombs for free with the design.

UF-FT-43 "Conflagrator"
A new handheld flamethrower to replace our ancient "Incinerator".
The flamethrower is converted to shoot napalm.
It has a streamlined nozzle to reduce turbulence and uses higher pressure propellants to increase the range from a pitiful 7 1/2 meters to 30 meters, comparable to the weapons of other countries.
Finally it uses modern alloys to lighten the tanks and allow more fuel to be carried. The tank layout is changed to two fuel tanks with a propellant tank in the middle, the two fuel tanks drain at the same time and keep the load balanced.
It also has the ability to shoot non-burning fuel to create a puddle. Then ignite it all at the same time.

Because as amazing as the Charmander is, it can't go everywhere a footsoldier can. It can't be as common as an infantry carried weapon. And it won't let a single soldier kill an armoured vehicle.

UF-HMG-43 "War Horse"
This new heavy machinegun is pretty much a shrunk down version of the AC-41 Velociraptor with a new 12mm caliber. The cartridge has a lot of gunpowder, making it equivalent in power to the old horsekiller but with much greater range and accuracy. The advance primer ignition and some aluminum allows it to be lighter and smaller than other machineguns of similar caliber.

The War Horse should replace the LMGs used as secondary weapons on most of our vehicles, making them able to ignore cover and light armour. It should also completely replace the ancient M1 Stallions and AC18s still used by our infantry, giving them a much more effective and portable heavy weapon to use.

From discord, we already get napalm bombs and it wouldn't do much on all the other things.
