What's with the Russian Communist pirates and the disappearance of our aircraft carrier? Comintern deciding to strike first?

Voting for the Croc, although I do agree it really needs a different name from the Cannalan ace. Can't think of a good name, at the moment. I like the sound of a new tank, but please please don't squeeze in ERA into it, we don't want our efforts to turn around the ground war hinging on that bloody thing.

War tigers would be good anti infantry weapons. We need to fill the armour role however.

Alternative names for the Croc:
- Gator
- Duck
- Bullfrog

Do any of those sound appropriate?

You know how I kept suggesting we have a new heavy tank? Yeah, I think we need a new heavy tank. Going to modify my Vanguard a little though.
I'm going to suggest something random, a heavy tank.

UF-HAT-39-B "Vanguard"

A very heavily armoured tank with sloped armour mounting a 105mm cannon (or at least room for one) in a bulging turret with dual coaxial M3 sorraias and a hull mounted Incinerator flamethrower. The tracks are protected by steel plates along the flanks and the supercharged V12 engine is mounted aft with the fuel and the armour is slightly thicker there. The tank's purpose is to be the first into a fight and clear out entrenched infantry or lighter tanks while shrugging off anti-tank munitions. Speed is less important and the vehicle is likely to be about 35kph on good terrain. Additional design features include angled forward track sections which allow the vehicle to climb trenches or riverbanks and can swap the flamethrower for a machine gun and use the flame tanks as oxygen tanks while sealing down the hull to enable semi-aquatic travel for a limited time.

Estimated difficulty: Hard (maybe very hard)

Voting for the obvious neccesity.

Let's name it something else, though.  Maybe...
The Piranha?

It's amphibious so... The salamander? We could mount a flamethrower on it if that helps.  :P

I forget, is the Raider solid against 20 mm's?

I like either Salamander or Bullfrog. Gator also sounds too derivative, and Duck just isn't impressive.

I prefer calling it the Salamander.

My worry is that that it'll be outmatched by the gun raiders, now that they can cross water now, too.

The Raider fires 30 mm's.  I suggest we up the armament to 37 mm's, which is about as big as we can get before it starts becoming a tank (or at least no more than 40 mm's to maintain anti-armor capabilities without capsizing).  The Raider has RHA, so it would need something of that caliber to stand a chance at pen'ing.

My suggested armament is a 37 mm autocannon with a 7.62 Sorria turret for anti-infantry abilities.  It wouldn't be too far fetched to have a 37 mm autocannon, since that was the armament of the Kingcobra.

Idea for Revision: Steam Catapult.  A steam-powered catapult to assist the Haast in takeoff in carrier operations.

@Sensei: what is preventing our carriers from launching night raids?
