It is doing its job now, probably will not next turn. and a turn without full air superiority is a turn in which we stop advancing.
A new fighter design would not obsolete the HF, by the way. HF 32 will be excellent as a cheap fighter for most of the rest of this war. Any new airplane should aim to be more performing and sit at the expensive level. revisions on it will be long lasting.

If we kill their navy, they won't get bonuses from having a Massive Advantage at sea. AND we'll take greater use of having a bonus IF WE CAN GET IT, only possible with a torpedo fix, because taking some control of seas gives us a LOT more airfields to operate aircraft from.

they don't have a  massive advantage anymore, and they are getting no bonuses in the only battleground we are fighting in.
nor will we get much if we gain naval superiority, because top lane is the land based lane and we aren't even equipped with shore bombardment.

I don't see how furthering a two-turn lead in the air battle is better than negating their sea battle.  Unless they got just as lucky as we did this year with a fighter design (and specifically a fighter design) our HF 32 isn't going to "do better" since we're already winning.

If we don't want to do torpedos, then let's do a better dive bomber or torpedo bomber.  Hell, let's make a 130 mm cannon to make our artillery and destroyer have more killing power.

Edit:  if we DO build the 32b, then kudos on the name.  The Stinger is perfect for the Wasp Nest

It's more to prepare our fighters for the falcons becoming expensive. Currently we have the advantage because we outnumber them. Now if we both outnumber and outfly them, we've got dominance in the skies they cannot challenge, and that's going to give our carriers that much more breathing room.

Oh, I didn't know they go down a cost level.

What is our tentative design plans for next year? RADAR?

So, it's now Winter. Do we get the resources from Myark in Spring? If so, we need to build a transport next turn, if we can afford to. That way, we get troops where they're needed, and the materials can be used to make our carriers Cheap (I think) and our planes Cheap, everything Cheap.

After the next year they will due to the influx of resources. If we can get the HF better now we've basically dashed their hopes in the air. They won't have much of a chance to compete when we drastically outgun, outmanoeuvre and outnumber them, and effectively means our carriers can carry that precious few more bombers since the HF-32 can be relied on to defeat any cannalan fighter.

Transport plane. A big ol' transport plane, possibly a seaplane, could give us some Transport Capacity that is not affected by their naval advantage, allowing us to both use the ore from Myark, and possibly ferry troops and materiel to blockaded islands.

By the way, it should be ntoed that Sensei said that

ALL CREDITS CAN BE SAVED TO BE USED ON TURNS OTHER THAN WHEN IT WAS WON

meaning that if we win it, we do not need to use it immediately and spend it only when we have something hard such as the RADAR.

Ah, right, the seaplane to shut kot up.

If they send up a better plane next year, would we want to upgrade the 32 then? If we dont upgrade the torpedo, then we wont be killing ships and our carriers will burn through their flight.  After all the concern about the carriers survivability last phase I would have thought more people would be up for a torpedo revision

We are already killing their ships; torpedoes aren't the only thing that is effective against them. More to the point if we do it now we won't have to do it later, and that means the next turn we've got effectively a free revision for something like the torpedo and the destroyer cannon.

Yeah, we NEED to get that torpedo going. If we can't do any real, lasting damage to their ships, we might as well not be doing any. Plus, their naval advantage entirely stops us from fighting on most fronts other than the jungle/desert island.

But we have no need nor desire to fight anywhere else other than the jungle desert island at least for one more turn. Plus, if we do the transport plane next turn it will help fighting in the tundra as well.

Well, that's the thing, isn't it? We aren't planning on fighting on any other fronts this turn. We could revise the torpedo next turn and have a similar effect.

The reason we designed a carrier this turn is that we had the time to do it now, whereas for example next turn we will want to design a transport, the turn after that something else, etc. Revising a torpedo we can do next turn, though. We may as well cement our position in the air this turn.

I mean, I don't need to explain why revising the HF-32 (at some point) would be great, do I? With the ore from Myark, it will be cheap, replacing the Yellowjacket as our mass fighter. It will likely fill this roll for most of the war. And it only requires a few minor revisions (retractable landing gear, oxygen masks) to seriously compete with their top-of-the-line fighter.
