Better off getting ships first, and then maybe making the 28-30cm guns to fit onto a battlecruiser or pocket battleship and nabbing a few of those for coastal emplacements.

We should set up artillery stations embedded in the ground hidden by steel doors, like the Japanese in Peleliu.  IIRC that was particularly effective at making life suck for the landing American soldiers.

The problem with the archapelago is that we won't necessarily be able to secure it. Though we already have a source of aluminium, it's source will give extra aluminium for us to use.

Yeah, we already have one aluminium (it's at the bottom of our equipment list), so not getting a second source isn't the end of the world. And unfortunately, we are probably going to be driven off of it this turn (due to our lack of a navy), and even next turn when we do have a destroyer, we still won't have enough of a navy to land enough troops to retake it.

They can in the archipelago. They can probably shell every inch of the islands with their cannons, beating our troops into submission until they cannot resist. If we had time to construct proper bunkers, and set up coastal guns, we might be able to hold them. But we don't.

I believe the Titanium in the south to be more valuable in the long term but any resources we can claim is good. And if our land forces are good at killing then the enemy will be at a disadvantage in the centre despite their naval superiority.

We can certainly stop them getting a foothold on the eastern central island.

The probelm with shelling the islands until they are nothing is that will effectively annihilate the facilities they'd need to resupply. We would've likely had time to dig in well and so close to the coast means our air power will be especially useful here.

To chime in on this, if they have absolute naval superiority in the archipelago they could interdict our resupply, starving out our land forces on the islands while shelling them down without reinforcements to replenish casualties, virtually guaranteeing they'll win eventually. Whether they can do so in one turn or ten is the issue here, and we can't tell until we get the first combat report.

If you shell a pile of rocks its still a pile of rocks.  They're just interested in the dirt.
