I'm bored and have nothing useful to do with myself, so in the spirit of submitting designs before the turn just because we can, have a design:
UF-LT-45 'Snipe Hunt'
The Snipe Hunt is a light tank, an unprecedented development in the archipelago. It is a brand-new extremely small chassis, as small as can be made while still packing a Bjorn engine in the rear of the tank. It is fully amphibious and airdroppable, and to that goal carries only 30mm of sloped Mangalloy frontal armor, and 25mm of sloped Mangalloy on the sides, rear, and top. It definitely resembles other Forenian tanks, though smaller. This is sufficient to make it resistant to hostile autocannon and aircraft fire at all ranges, but keeps weight to a minimum. Slat armor and ERA is incorporated into the design as always, including a slight change to Blood Eagle ERA that removes the unintentional feature of tankwide detonation of ERA as soon as any piece of ERA detonates.
The turret is unusual, in that it carries two high-velocity 40mm autocannon hopefully capable of firing 100-120 rounds per minute apiece. The guns are capable of elevating far enough to engage Cannalan helicopters, and depressing far enough to engage infantry targets at near point-blank ranges, and fire all our standard munitions types. This is made relatively easy because of the short breech block and light weight of a 40mm gun. For armor, the turret has 25mm of mangalloy all around, and is built to be as low-lying as possible.
If at first you don't like how the war is going, decide to finally add several entirely-new roles to tank units: Reconnaissance in force: Read stories from WWII, they're full of "I wish we knew where the enemy was, I guess we need to send somebody out to do recon". It's always light tanks or armored cars who get sent on such missions first, by the way; heavy anti-aircraft which has longer range than the Garlic system ever will, and isn't mounted on a bulky and slow-moving APC frame; APC and light(er)-tank hunter since it can kill Bulls from the flanks (and anything else with Medium armor) assuming the gun isn't crappy; and anti-infantry roles if necessary. I would consider upping the size of the gun to 45mm or so if people prefer that (like Zanzetkuken expressed in the Discord), but that does start reducing the muzzle velocity (and thus killing power and range of the system) or rapidly increasing the weight of the projectiles, casings, and the gun itself, which is something I'd like to avoid.
