We have more than a single radar. The VVF-Q still flies, and the radar version is VE

Actually no.  Per the Winter '43 rollout:

"The Q model without radar isn't much used either, while its performance is better than the Lightning Streak its potentially dangerous engine failures have caused fatalities on landing procedures, so the risk isn't seen as worthwhile."

As it basically can't land, the pilots are refusing the fly the Q's.
It says the model without radar isn't used much. The model with radar is used at a normal VE level.

This implies the same situation to the version with radar.

Also if I recall we essentially have parity in the air right now, so more jets will in fact help us.

At a minimum it will let us take down their bombers even if our own are useless.

UF-MINE-43 "Pinata"

A 500 kg variation of the wildly successful Firecracker bomb, the Pinata is an easy-to-deploy area-denial weapon that operates on the exact same altitude-based dispersion method. Commonly deployed by air, this new weapon disperses Rum mines (3Kg, Anti-Personnel), a simple variation on our existing mines.  These mines are sturdy enough to survive being dropped out of a plane and arm themselves shortly after being deployed.  They are possible to detect with Geiger detectors (which we will develop alongside them) thanks to radioactive sand mixed in their paint, but the main purpose is to slow down enemy advancement and force them to advance along chosen chokepoints.  The Rum mines are small and dark-colored, and easily hidden beneath foliage and dirt.

Additionally, Cigar (10 kg, Anti-Tank) mines can be intermixed into the deployment package to prevent armor from easily punching through mined areas. A small number of parachuted Whalesong mines will be an option as well when we fell than we aren´t doing our best at converting the sea into a death trap. Following the firecraker´s design, this bomb would also allow for the substitution of the mines for bomblets, flechettes or other munitions available.

These mines are sensitive enough to detonate when stepped on or tampered with.  They come camouflaged and self-deactivate after a period of three months.

We are fighting on plains this turn. Mines will give them hell there and greatly restrict their movements.

...the situation with the Q is an EXCELLENT reason to be fixing it, because it both gives us jets to try to keep the missile fighters away from the Haasts in the first place and it gives us waaay more radar up there than a cargo plane that’s gonna get shot down with the current status quo anyway ever would.

Eh, we need both, I guess.  Still think flares are the way to go, but might as well pick the more popular one and move this along.

Second time's a charm with the Q revision, right?  If it goes really well, it will save us an action replacing the now terribly obsolete Lightning.  If it goes badly, you'd think we'd at least get the experience to get the engine right in the next fighter.  It's a close call, but the Q is what I'm coming around to this revision.  Hopefully the VVF QQ RADAR birds won't be too expensive to use.

Revision: aT-J30-Q

It took some doing, but we managed to convince the engineer who insulted Leipzig-based consultant Gottfried Q. Wolfram to apologize and convince him to come back.  With Professor Wolfram on the design team, the aT-J30-Q project is completed as initially planned.

Easy: 1
aT-J30-Q:
Gottfried Wolfram was brought back on board to solve the flamout problem and make the more economic Q engines viable for general use. However, he spent the entire duration working on false plans as an elaborate ruse, finally saying, "Ha! How do you like it with most of the parts on backwards and the wrong size? THAT is what you get!" when he boarded the plane back to Germany. Apparently he was only feigning to accept the apologies which had been made towards him. In retrospect, this might have to do with the PAROI-endorsed Apology Gift Basket, which is rumored to have started a fire in his home.
