If we do go with a new tank (and I'm not sure we should) should we make it amphibeous (aka give it a snorkle)?

Do snorkles work in mud?

We could, but making the engine airtight to be snorkled would impact on the engine's ability to radiate heat and under ventilated, and fixing that may make it that little bit more expensive. And even then, it might be a little more fire prone still.

If we are talking about tanks, here's the Apocalypse patterns that are somewhat decent, updated to have the 41 rather than the 18 autocannon.

So, guided missiles are liable to be shit. But we could perhaps improve our un-guided missiles (AKA rockets).

UF-A(A/T)R-41 'Saltstriker': PAROI! Glorious Forenian engineering has produced this new-ish weapon, the Saltstriker rocket system. A descendant of the Sarukh, Saltstriker rockets are smaller, and have a shorter range, but improved accuracy. Available in both Anti Air and Anti Tank versions (with the anti-tank versions being slightly larger). The Saltstriker is a simple steel tube, with flip-out fins that deploy after launching. The AA version has a range of ~1000m, the AT version ~2500m. The AA version has a ~500g simple explosive charge, the AT a ~1.5kg shaped charge.
Simple pods containing a dozen AA rockets, or four AT ones, can be attached to hardpoints on planes, or mounted on vehicles such as the Salamander (with multiple pods per plane/vehicle, according to their capacity)

UF-ATR41 A  "Firefly":

Designed primarily anti-tank rocket for use by planes against ground targets, the ATR41 is a versatile weapon derived partially from our SARUKH launcher. The rockets are scaled down somewhat compared to the Sarukh, clocking in at an impressive 50 kg. It utilizes a powerful rocket engine to propel the round at speeds exceeding the speed of sound, while base hinged fins deploy from the sides to stabilize rocket.

The burn time of the rocket is far shorter than that of the Sarukh, giving an effective range of about 2-3 kilometers. On the other, the weapon profits from this by having an extra large warhead, and hence a considerable punch.

Three different warheads are present. In order of importance, a massive HEAT warhead capable of easily penetrating very heavy armor to the being a significant threat to small naval combatents. In addition to that, it has a Sarukh derived HE warhead intended for anti-ground use, and a lighter HE warhead with a timed fuse intended for use against bombers, helicopters or planes.

Although Firefly missiles are intended primarily for air-to-ground  combat, they can be fitted on ground vehicles as well.

Got to mention that most of the rocket variants, with the possible exception of ebbor's supersonic Firefly, are not worth a design action. Instead, they're more of a revision type thing.

You know what, by specifying that they can go on ground vehicles, we could mount Ebbor's design on the Salamanders.  We would have made a Bradley...

I'm voting for it.
